On the other hand Koshiro did fairy well and however he is convinced he could do much better, we all know that a skater usually is not able to show everything they learnt. Moreover, it takes time to feel new body perfectly after so spectacular growth.
Just hope he stays more confident at Nationals.
I guess he's trying to live up to his name, 高志郎(high-aim-boy; his name is quite old-school for his age and I imagine it's his parents' wish to set his goal high), and he says he hates losing, though he hardly shows his negative emotions. His forward-head posture, which he didn't have before his growth spurt, got quite better than the last season, and I hope he'll get his body under perfect control very soon like he did before. Stephane has certainly been giving him great support, both mentally and physically.

In one of the interviews he mentioned that he originally meant to ask Jeffrey Buttle for his SP choreo, but it didn't happen and he asked Stephane to ask Sara Dolan to do the choreo for STAY. (That is, it's a semi-self choreo by Dolan and Koshiro himself, just like how Deniss did his Iron.) It sounded like it was a schedule issue, either he got injured or it was Buttle's schedule conflict? Have you heard anything about that somewhere?

I admire the way Koshiro answers questions thoughtfully, truthfully and diplomatically. This is a rare blend to have.
The media is always quick to try to make drama or blow words out of proportion, but I feel that he's wise in his word choice but also sincere.
I'm sure it's not only Koshiro who feels the same or similar. But I guess it's not very easy for young skaters to convey their real feelings to journalists who always have what they want to write about, instead of what they actually hear.

His EX was so fresh and funny. (I also love the song from Queen)
Indeed, I saw quite a few tweets from Queen fans thanking him for doing it on November 24.

Hope you like it. :)
YESSS!!! I love it! Thank you sooooo much:love: I'll post more on it later!

Yesterday, many people reported seeing Koshiro, Deniss, Shoma and Stephane together in the backyard (or wherever), doing exercises like juggling and playing catch?, and also Koshiro and Shoma running after Deniss and Stephane went inside watching Ladies SP. Last year at Nats, Koshiro was always seen with Stephane, for watching Ladies performances too. Thanks to Deniss coming all the way to Japan after his own nationals, and Shoma now being part of Team Champery (though in-officially yet), this year Koshiro can completely focus on his preparation along with Shoma. Watching Ladies with Stephane was also great for him too both for learning and taking some break (also for us fans to enjoy their reactions and cameras catching them), but I feel more relieved to learn that he can concentrate more to prepare himself this year while Deniss taking care of Stephane.

Last summer, Koshiro was talking about taking Deniss and Stephane to Dogo Hot spring (a well-known oldest hot spring in Japan) in his hometown, so I'm wondering if their plan in Japan includes visiting Matsuyama after Nats!!!

This morning's run-through: 3A, popped into 1T (4T), 3Lz-3T. After popping his quad, he casually skated through to the combo, but did steps thoroughly. After the run-through, he tried quads many times but wasn't successful.

Words from the skaters Group 4: Koshiro is the second of the group, right after Shoma. Both their skating videos look to be ones from Champery.

Koshiro, Gamba! I'm looking forward to seeing him bloom in his own way and STAY well in the senior field, as Stephane said.

Raw interview video by Fuji, right after SP performance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoDeBVWoHDk

-Forthrightly, tell us your feeling after SP now

I was able to be a fighter for the battle. But that mistake on the last 3Lz was huge, and I got that score with such a mistake. That gave me a lot of confidence, and this SP (result) matters a lot for my future career, I believe.

-Your team mate, Shoma Uno performed right before you. You were able to follow his wonderful performance right after that.

Well, in fact, Shoma-kun gave me really incredible, like, brutal* amount of power, and I'm just so grateful to him. I'm proud that we both** could deliver satisfactory performance.
(Note 1: Its original Japanese word is えげつない/egetsunai, Note 2: It's hard to translate it literally but he meant more like in a nuance of 'I could follow him and made it so that made two of us do so together', sorry for my poor wording.)

-Uno-senshu was watching you too. You were also successful with your 4T, how about that?

I hadn't managed to make it, not even a single one (in competition) this season yet, so I'm frankly pleased. But I was so close to a clean performance with no mistakes. (I have) both 'kuyashii' feeling and a sense of pride that I did my best. But now, I'm so fired up for free.

-Tell us your enthusiasm for the free.

I just do what I need to do to the wire, again. I've had so much of struggling, training, and everything, and I want to take them all out on FS with all my might.

島田高志郎80・59点「今季のショートで一番」[2019年12月20日20時40分]
Koshiro Shimada 80.59, "The best SP this season"

(skipped the intro on Nats)

Koshiro Shimada (18, Kinoshita Group), in his first senior year, got 80.59.
He stood on the rink right after a great performance by Shoma Uno (22 Toyota), who is also coached by Stephane Lambiel. The opening 3A, and the following 4T he landed. His last 3-2 combination jump turned into 2-3, but he said, "It was the best SP performance this season. I can proudly go to the next step. I was doing really fine 4Ts when training, but I couldn't show any of them in competition. Something stuck in my heart is finally cleared now," with a smile.

The writer, Wataru Matsumoto, tweeted:

Last night, Koshiro Shimada couldn't watch Shoma Uno's performance, but "I know his choreo, so just by the cheers (by the audience)," he could feel his (Shoma's) great performance according to him (Koshiro). He himself made a long-sought 4T success, and said, "I'm really grateful to Shoma-kun and Coach Stephane. I learned a lot from Uno-senshu's fighting attitude."

Congratulations to a fresh student of Waseda University :agree:

Taking Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences at Human Sciences Dept he seems to follow Yuzuru ;). Good luck!

In the tweet watching skating on YouTube and... eating are mentioned as his hobbies what makes Koshiro a good match to Deniss' cooking and baking .
As the goals for next season he named improvement of all jumps, spins and skating elements and including three quads to his FS.

Congratulations to Koshiro on both achievements! :)

(And indeed it's really convenient that eating is his hobby ;) Deniss is sure to cook something nice for him when he goes back to Switzerland.)

Very nice choice by Koshiro! Likeable tune, enough to please the judges and yet not a piece that's been beaten to death. A smart move, and suitable for building up his reputation in the pre-Olympic season.

It may be just me, but he looks more mature in these photos. He looks quite tall, too, though it's not likely he's growing anymore.
Can we assume Shoma will be joining him soon?
It's good to see skaters return to their home rinks one by one...

Yes, definitely he does! He's not a boy anymore... but a handsome young man. It's hard to say if he's taller than in December, we must wait for his photos with Stephane, Deniss or Shoma to compare ;).
