Entries are online!

36 men & ladies, 29 ice dance teams, 17 pairs.
No Elene Gedevanishvili (is she retired?), no armenian dancers Garabedian/Proulx-Sénécal (strange, they were at Golden Spin recently), no belgian dancers Postiaux and no french Mendoza/Kovalev (she was injured at French Nats, maybe she hasn't fully recovered because French Fed uses all the spots in ice dancing...!)

Yes they have announced earlier this season that they will only skate in junior this year. I hope to see them next year in senior!

Maybe a stupid question, but why doesn't France have any substitute skaters listed?

Oh, too bad :( I'm sure they would be top ten here and get some recognition inertnationally since many fans don't follow juniors at all. But oh well, I guess I'll cheer for them a little later his season :)

In terms of number of entries compared to last year, I think it's

Men + 6 entries
Ladies -2
Pairs +3
Dance -1

Maybe a stupid question, but why doesn't France have any substitute skaters listed?

Because French Fed IS stupid

Romain Ponsart is re-working in Colorado Springs so he'll probably focus on Worlds (Amodio will retire after Europeans)
but Hocquaux or a junior guy could be a substitute.
for ladies that's harder, only Nadjma Mahamoud is age eligible.

No Elene Gedevanishvili (is she retired?)

I'm friends with her on Facebook, and for a long time now, there has been nothing posted to do with her own skating. She's based in America now, and I think she's coaching. So, based on this, I am getting the same impression.

But, for all we know, she might be taking a sabbatical this season, to re-charge her batteries before a full scale charge to the Olympics.

No Duskova/Bidar in pairs, but Anna as a substitute for Eliska, that makes sense Czech Fed :sarcasm:

You know, that was the first thing I looked for in the lists - to see if Anna and Martin were entered in the Pairs.

Disappointed that they aren't, but hey! Anna might still get to go.

The second thing I looked for was to see if Zoe Jones was down as a substitute for Great Britain. She isn't. Even though she finished 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] in British Championships. :disapp:

So, does anybody know why? Has she not got the minimum TES's since she came back? Did she not want to go to Europeans? Or, has NISA done the dirty on her again like they did back in 2002?

By the way, if anybody is interested, I have updated her Fan Fest.

The third thing I looked to see was which of the Italian Ladies was going. Roberta (by far Italy's best skater in the past calendar year, but bombed in Nationals for past 2 seasons) or Giada (Italian Champion for past 2 seasons, but no form on international stage). And I got a surprise when I saw that they both are. I didn't realise Italy had 2 slots!

The third thing was to see if the Polish Men's Champion was there. He isn't. So, I take it Igor is still on his probation after switching from representing his native Ukraine.

So, now that the Provisional Entry Lists are up, I'll sort out a Predictions Thread in the next day or so. But, I want to finish Canada's thread first.

Oh, I can't wait for the Championships to start!!! :cheer:

I wonder why Ukraine went with Valeria GAISTRUK / Alexei OLEJNIK in Ice Dance :scratch2: I was actually really looking forward to seeing Nazarova/Nikitin :(

She is not listed at all here (or at least I can't find her):

It would suggest she hasn't done any international competition valid to get the minimum TES.

Yesterday Czech Federation published nominations and I already read there that Anna/Martin won't compete. First I was surprised a little, but then I realised they don't have the programs for seniors category(I know they could easily keep their junior programs, but still would have to change some things). They are also very young and they have time. Both are 16. I wonder if there has ever been a pair as young as they are now competing at the Europeans. For girls sure, Gordeeva was even younger, but I can't really remember other pair with such a small age difference, which competed at the age of 16 in seniors. So no worry here, they're really young.
In pairs I will look forward to all Russians because they're all great(even if S/K aren't my cup of tea), especially K/S. Then I can't wait to watch James/Cipres, Marchei/Hotárek and Savchenko/Massot. I'm really looking forward to Aliona's comeback.
In men I'm happy I will see Deniss and Daniel Samohin!
In ice dance-Cappellini/Lanotte and Papadakis/Cizeron will be the most interesting for me.
Since ladies are probably my favorite category I'm looking forward to many of them:Mae Berenice Meite, Angelina Kuchvalska, Russians, Rajičová, Joshi Helgesson.

OMG it starts in 3 weeks!!!

The only international competitions she has done since she returned to competition were the ISU Adult competitions in Oberstdorf in 2014 and 2015. She hasn't done any international competitions since she returned to senior level this season.

I thought national competitions would count for minimum TES's, but clearly they don't.

Thanks for clearing this up (and thank you for the link. I didn't know that these lists were online!)

At first I was a little puzzled, that it's Patrick Myzyk who has got the spot yet another year but then... According to Igor's ISU Bio his last competition was Winter Universiade 2013. So maybe not probation, but he wasn't competing internationally to get minimums for Europeans.

So, same as Zoe. :disapp:

Oh, it's a pity that National scores don't count. :drama:

But, with so much "Nationalflation" going on, it's hardly surprising that the ISU don't count them.

I've read an article about Igor Reznichenko some months ago, it said that it was OK for him to skate for Poland, but maybe the article was a little bit too optimistic. They talked about Liubov Efimenko too, so it was at least last summer. Reznichenko isn't listed for the Mentor Cup, that's a bit strange.

Gaystruk/Oleynik won the national championship, in which Nazarova/Nikitin were absent. Internationaly the two teams did the same scores. so probably the ukrainian federation wants to let their chance to Gaystruk/Oleynik...

Quick Thoughts:

Men: 36! Great number so six full warm up groups. Nice to see Montoya, Ionian and Dennis finally at Euros..

Ladies: What happened to Jorik's little sister? Not even as a sub and she even has the tech for Worlds.

Pairs: 17 entries so that means one very unlucky team wont make it to the free.

Dance: Missing Nazarova&Nikitin already but its fair the champs get to go. Making it to the free is gonna be a cruel battle here.

Loena is injured (her back I believe) hence her absence.

I'm really going to miss N&N, they were one of the teams I was really looking forward to. Was there any particular reason they missed nationals? Any chance we see them at worlds? They aren't having the greatest year, but they have a ton of potential, likely much moreso than their teammates.
