Very borderline under-rotations on the flip/axel. I thought the lutz was round, the 3T, however, is definitely under-rotated (looks like a toe-axel too). The 3F, if the judges have somehow decided to consider pre-rotation, then I can see why it was given a UR call.

Judges seem to always harshly mark the Armenian skaters.

Omg Anna is so gorgeous, my favourite performance of the night, even with the doubled jump she really kept it together, also she is proof to me that skating without the tights over boots looks waaaaaay better. (You too Evgenia, take notes, enough with those half tights over boots) But seriously there was something about her performance here that was more compelling than what she did at Russian Nationals. I just wish she would hold that spiral right before her 2A just a little bit longer.
I agree and because Anna's legs are so long it looks particularly good that she's skating without the tights over the boots now.
And Evgenia's tights/boots look was a real no-go yesterday, because of the hole in the tights. I ruined the performance for me, because I always had to look at that hole.

Laurine Lecavelier has such great speed across the ice and her skating is super smooth. Why aren't her jumps better? I feel so much talent in her.

Now I see! There was something different that made her look definitely more dainty on the ice, but I just couldn't figure out what :cool2:

When she is one, I find Anna P a far more compelling skater to watch than Evgenia M. I frankly don't understand all the hype for Evgenia. Her programs, especially the short, are poorly structured at least from a choreographic point of view (yes, I realize they are constructed to maximize points after the halfway mark) and her posture leaves a lot to be desired. I hope Anna P can pull off a great long.

I'm really not getting how people are so into Pogo's programmes. Girl can't even keep a straight leg!

It's quite simple: she has star quality. And she doesn't need to over-emote to shine. It's true that some of her positions need refinement, but she can work on that. She's already much better than last year in that regard.

Some really nice performances yesterday.

No surprises with the Russians taking the Top 3 positions. It certainly wasn't Medvedeva's best performance, she seemed a little tight maybe the pressure is getting to her a bit? I'm not sure I would have her in the lead. Radionova is right on her heels, I thought she seemed a little subdued in her presentation, she really fought for her jumps. I really enjoyed Pogo, bar the doubled jump, she would have been in the mix with the other two if she went clean, she will probably end with a secure third place.

Others I liked were Rodeghiero, (even if the music choice seemed a little mismatched) Rajicova, Helgesson, Kuchvalska and Toth. I thought that Galustyan and Maxwell were marked very harshly marked, particularly the Armenian.

Hopefully everyone skates well in the Free.

Dang. I still can't get Celine out of my head. And I'm not even a Celine Dion fan.

What was wrong with them judging Galustyan?
Grishin poured salt in my wounds by commenting (during the men's event) how he met Nastya & her father & how upset they both were about the judjing :sad4:
TAT was upset too

Galusytan's TES calls are particularly puzzling since the Assistant Technical Specialist here, Sarkis Tewanian, represents Armenia. There go our conspiracy theories.

Terrible attitude towards small federation countries skaters!
What was wrong with them judging Galustyan? Her URs were not bad enough to mark them ALL on the sheet. It should be really one UR. The rest were too small. And with already degraded base value, her GOE did not have to be THAT low, because everything else about her jumps was great. Her PCS should have been MUCH higher too. What a shame!

Generally, I don't understand why Russian girls PCS grow every year and other girls PCS don't. This difference became really unacceptable. Evgenia is great, but her PCS are too high in relation to others. With all my love to Russian ladies, I cannot like it.:frown:

I agree with everything you said!

I could not stop starring at the hole too:laugh:

However, such borderline URs were forgiven to others. Definitely NO underrotation on lutz. The 3T, and that's should be it. With the performance she delivered the questionable URs should have been judged in her favor.

I don't really think this is a correct statement ...outside of GPF. At least when studying her scores internationally she isn't running away with anything in terms of PCS. Zhenia was clearly the best at GPF so her scores seem fine there but she didn't have the highest PCS in her other GP events. Radionova beat her at CoR...Satoko beat her at SA and I can see a case for Satoko to be scored lower than Zhenia on her PCS overall. Granted that's just my opinion but the point is... she isn't running away with PCS as the main factor when looking at her scores internationally.

I say this as a very critical person of Zhenia this season and to be honest...someone who finds her programs less than inspiring. That said....she is very deliberate in her movements and delivers her programs as well as anyone this season...personal taste aside. At least that's how I see it. I may not enjoy it very much but I think she is very deserving of the top PCS marks this season. YMMV.

*All nationals... except Korea probably
Korea already used it at Vancouver. Kim's 150 points with double jumps and without 3A was absolutely overscore. Like Sotnikova's 148 at Sochi too. But I'm glad they both finally leave figure skating. Kim retired, and for Sotnikova not chances to beat anyone for now moment. I hope she will get it and leave figure skating too. And we will wait for the new fantastic scores in the third Olympics in a row. I think, this time for the American. Maybe Polina or Gracie will win Pyeongchang with 155-160 points? Who knows...

^Errr, weren't the 2010 Olympics scored under a different system though? But I get your point about Olympic inflation. They kind of need it though for dramatic effect since the event only occurs every 4 years, and I don't think it's such a big deal if the overall placements are reasonable.

I wonder if Evgenia will change her tights for the next skate or will she continue to wear the "hoof-tights-half-over-boots." lol. If only someone could let her know.....

I am not personally distracted by her tights but can understand people complaining. I think may be these are her "lucky tights". Sportsmen are very superstitious in general.

Maybe being Armenian influenced it the other way around.. "I don't want to be accused of favoritism" and then the opposite happened

The 2010 season used different scoring and Kim got the scored she deserved in that scoring system. With the current system, I think ~154 is the limit (for everyone without a 3A). TES 76/PCS 78. Do I think anyone will score that way? Polina most certainly won't unless she changes how she approaches jumps. The jumps themselves are great, but they are very disruptive because she is so cautious going into them. Gracie probably also cannot because of her flip edge.
