Oh team Russia 2 was AWESOME! :luv17:

If this is their team 2, I expect team 1 to blow the roof off!! :cheer:

ETA Their coach's reaction :rofl2:

I saw Team 1 at a competition earlier in the season...amazing.

First chills of the competition: thank you team USA 1!! What a wonderfully choreographed programme. Absolutely fab.

I usually hate that move where one skater pulls the other backwards by their skate, but it looked really cool here (and I didn't mind Bruno & Aliona doing it either) :)

I'm feeling a bit lonely here - is anybody else watching? :slink:

I'm watching but am going to have to run out and get my daughter from school. Hopefully I won't miss much.

I agree - Team USA 1 looked great! Such a powerful skate all around. But this last group should be amazing as well!

I saw them too at the GPF and they really have a winning programme. They were super good there and if they do the same here they could very well win even with clean skates from the other teams. Which would be good for synchro as a whole!

I am :)

I prefered the Russia 2 team to the USA 1 but I guess the americans had a better technical content.

Yay!

I think they were pretty close, but the USA team has improved a lot lately (well in the 2 years since I really started to semi-follow synchro). Especially in SS and skating close to each other. I really liked them, but I'm still surprised that their PCS scores were so high - I think we might get 10s in the last group! If they got near 9s, I would also have scored all of the Russians PCS 8+, but what do I know?

If you miss anything, Britta Gericke and 0316seisato have been putting up youtubes! I will have links to them in the videos thread.

Low TES for Swe 1...

It was really nice, but their dresses kept making me think of Medevedeva...are they even similar?

10 for Interpretation to the Russian team! Soooo beautiful :)

Not having the "Season's best" info on the ISU live results screen is making me realise how much I appreciate it! I can't tell if a team has a chance or not, and I can't be appropriately impressed when a team gets a huge SB :(

Woah, that final element the Finns did looked really cool from above!

The above view is really cool for synchro skating. I hate when they use it in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics.

That was a very unfortunate fall for Canada 1...

Yeah, I'm still half-watching. Fun enough as background entertainment.
Actually, the difference in quality between the earlier groups and these groups is scary... the FS will be fun to see.

WHAT is going on with NEXXICE and MIU this season? Both teams are really foundering compared to their usual standard

ETA Sorry I forgot that NEXXICE got 2nd at their championships and it was the other Canadian team as Team 1 this time. But losing the Canadians was unusual, too...

I only watched the top 2 groups, but I was quite impressed! I agree with the judges other than I would flip Rus 2 and Swe 1 - and I swear it's not because of my country's irrationally hostile attitude towards Sweden - it's quite as hostile and quite as irrational towards Russia :laugh2:

How is it possible that they still hire camerapersons who think it's a great idea to zoom in on one skater's face during a synchronized skating programme? :disapp:

I think a few of the skaters from the WC winning team retired. They also had some injuries, and Lee Chandler, who had retired, even had to come back. They scrambled to get it together for Grand Prix Final and eked out the bronze. Bev Smith wrote about some of their troubles. Recently, they held trials for new members for the senior team. I think they are in the middle of changing their team.

I see, thank you - that explains a lot! Still surprised that MIU - their big rival - is also going through a rough patch. I suppose it's only natural to have some tougher seasons here and there :)
