Panenkova is a unique young figure skater, she has amazing coordination of movements in the air. This girl is flying in her jumps like a phoenix. It seems that she has wings instead of arms during the flying of a jump. Daria (Dasha) was born December 8, 2002 in Moscow (Yasenevo). She is a skater of Sambo-70, the branch of Khrustalny. Natalia Gavrilova-Mariansky was her first coach there. Now Daria trains in the Tutberidze / Dudakov group. Sergei Dudakov is her technical coach. Her main ice choreographer is Daniil Gleyhengauz, her main dance choreographer is Alexei Zheleznyakov. She learned five triple jumps (toe loop, salchow, loop, flip, lutz) with both arms up and the exact same double axel for one month (!!!), after not very successful for her Samara Open, where she was the tenth. Next competitions Moscow Open has become sensational for the world of figure skating: Daria performed two rippon-jumps in the SP and five rippon-jumps in the FS, she was 12 years old at that time. Her rippon-records continued in the rest competitions of the season. At the end of February, 2016 Daria performed three rippon-jumps in the SP and seven rippon-jumps in the FS in the Moscow Junior Champs; besides, she was the first in the world who performed combination 3Lz(r)-3T(r). In April, 2016 Daria twice improved her record in the Olympic Hopes (Velikiy Novgorod) and in the Moscow Figure Skating President Cup: three rippon-jumps in the short program and eight rippon-jumps in the long program. And in May, 2016 she repeated her record in the Chernomyrdin Cup in Orenburg, where she won the competitions. Also Dasha practices the new jumping combination 2A(r)-1Lo-2A(r). Daria prepared two new programs and she started the next 2016/2017 season in Moscow Open in the end of August, 2016, where she traditionally performed all three triple jumps with two arms up (3Lz-3T and 3Lo) in the SP, but that time all jumps elements were done in the second half of her SP, also she performed eight rippon-jumps and all her jumps were done in the second half of FS there. Daria expected won these competitions. In October, 2016 Daria won the II Stage of Cup of Russia (Mariy El, Yoshkar-Ola). There she continued the series of 11 rippon-jumps (3 in SP + 8 in FS) which lasts for five events in a row. In December, 6 she won the V Stage of Cup of Russia with her best traditions, thus she made a wonderful gift for herself to the Birthday. In January, 2017 Daria was placed the fifth in Russian Junior Nationals (St. Petersburg). And in February, 2017 she phenomenally won her first international events Sofia Trophy, beating the nearest competitor by almost 45 points. In the same month, she won Moscow Junior Champs 2017. In the end of March, 2017 Daria participated in Russian Junior Spartakiad (Mordovia, Saransk), where she was the third. In April, 4 Dasha took the fourth place in the traditional Russian Elder Junior Nationals (Velikiy Novgorod). Her new season 2017/2018 started by the victoriry, she won her first JGP stage Riga Cup, where she performed a new SP. In October, 6 she was the second in Baltic Cup (her second JGP stage) showed champion performance in FS, thus Daria deserved her place in JGP final. She took the 3-rd place at the IV stage of Rostelecom Cup in Kazan (November, 11) after a difficult recovery period from an ankle fracture. In late November, Daria repeated her third result at the V stage of Rostelecom Cup in Moscow. In December 2017, JGP Final passed in japanese Nagoya, where Daria cleanly performed both programs and took 5th place. In the same month, Dasha took part in the Russian Nationals, where she placed the 8th. At the end of January 2018 Dasha took part in the Russian JuniorNationals (Saransk), where she was resulted the fifth. On February 22 the competitions of the Cup of Russia Final in Velikiy Novgorod ended, Dasha got in the top three there (the third place).

Dasha is awesome. I hope she can get to a stage where the judges will appreciate her jumps.

She is great but sadly we most likely will not see her making her JGP debut this season. She didn't make it to the Russian junior championships last season but she should be very competitive skater this season and hopefully we will see her making her international debut this season even though it probably will not be at the JGP.

Hopefully she will make it to the TOP 8 at the Russian junior championships this season. If that happens then she would most likely make her JGP debut the season after this season.

Actually she is invited to test skates in early august for the JGP team. With some luck she can make it into JGP events this coming season. I hope she will, she is such an energetic skater and she made a lot of progress in the last year.

Do you have the full list of skaters who will be skating there?

The way I see it is that based on last year results these would be the TOP Russian skaters.

Polina Tsurskaya
Alisa Fedichkina
Elizaveta Nugumanova
Alisa Lozko
Stanislava Konstantinova

Then the next group would be these skaters.
Anna Tarusina
Anastasia Gubanova
Sofia Samodurova

The next group would include Daria and a few other skater. Anyway, Daria is fully capable to overtake some of the skaters mentioned above, maybe even the whole group of 3 skaters mentioned above, but she would need to be really really great at the test skating because last season Konstantinova didn't get a JGP spot even though she was better than Mikhailova. Mikhailova got 2 JGP events because of her results from previous season was better than Konstantinova's. So, usually Russian Fed puts a lot of weight for the results of the junior championships and because Daria wasn't there last season and she lost to her main competitors (Tarusina, Samodurova and Gubanova) at the Russian Youth Championships the odds are that she will not make her JGP debut this season.

I don't have the full list, I'm only going from what she said herself in her ask.fm.

As for the method of skater selection for JGP, I'm really not sure if numerical results is what is being looked at that much. AFAIK Mikhailova is also invited to test skates while Mitrofanova isn't, and their results from last season suggest the opposite.

In the end federation wants to give more opportunities to skaters that seem to show the most potential. In case of Konstantinova I suspect they simply didn't believe in her prospects given that she is a late bloomer and doesn't have a star coach to back her up. Panenkova on the other hand is only 13, she's improving rapidly, and has Tutberidze to vouch for her. I think her chances are pretty good. We'll know soon enough I guess.

Daria is strong which is why Russia wants to see her skate in the closed skates. If one of the hopefuls shows up looking like a hot mess Dasha is strong enough to do well in the JGP. She has all the assets she needs in the group she is in.

In fact, Katia Kurakova got exactly the same score as Dasha: 60,56.
But the advantage of Dasha is that she has already passed puberty (and has really nice woman body :) ) so can only progress, I hope

Daria won. Her score was about 188 points, Sasha Trusova was 2nd with 186 points. No video yet.

Interestingly there has been very strict judging because Daria got more than 4.5 points less in PCS than what she got from her 1st event. This has been happening all the events, not just in ladies event.
