The moment the one and only Red Ballerina on Ice locked up her Olympic Gold Medal! The short program was the first step, this was the second -

The moment she stole her fans' hearts forever -

I hope she still has the doll -

Such an iconic moment. Alina, almost missing her combo and then, out of nowhere, adding that loop at the end of that lutz. She showed the heart and will of a Champion.

Happy OGM anniversary to our humble champion. And to all of her amazing fans! :medal" :ghug:

Here's to more iconic moments and great victories! :)

Sharing those moments with everyone here.....no words.....

This is a mesmerizing slow motion video of Alina's best moments in her best performances throughout her career. I found the video on Sports.ru.

Here's to celebrating many more together. :party2:

I don't remember my comment but I guess I wrote it. ;) congratulations to Alina on the second anniversary of her monumental Olympic gold medal. And for always handling herself with grace class and dignity.

If your eyes don't get wet watching this footage, you are not human...:luv17:

Such class from both of them, but, oh, the generosity of spirit Alina shows with the consolatory stroking of Evgenia's hair. To be fifteen and to have the presence of mind, in the middle of such a triumph, to still know how much it would have meant to your teammate to win, and to react with compassion, says so much about her.

Indeed, which is why I still find Eteri's accessment ("pretty and flexible") quiet insulting...

Eteri didn't say anything different from what Alina said herself about her beginnings with Eteri and about what she could do that time, e.g. here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdgIwLU8zuo

I find interesting that people who are not concerned so often find some things "quite insluting", while the people who are concerned don't.

Remember, we are fans, and fans are expected to talk about their stars only in the most posivive way. But coaches are coaches, not fans (not fans in the sense of internet forums users :) ), they are supposed to be realistic.

I didn't expect her to say "She was the most talented girl, I had ever seen" or "All of her jumps were just perfect".

But Alina clearly had some musicality in her (see those little hand moves in that performance from 2013 and her jumps which were perfectly timed to the music). So to say that there was NOTHING special besides her being a pretty girl, which let's be honest most little girls are and flexible, which most little girls are as well reminds me of what that impertinent sister of hers said about Yulia ("just spins").
