Alexey Valerievich Erokhov (Russian: Алексей Валерьевич Ерохов) was born on September 5, 1999 in Moscow, Russia.
He is the 2018 Junior World champion, the 2017 JGP Belarus champion, the 2017 JGP Poland champion, and the 2018 Russian junior national champion. On the senior level he is a multiple winner and medallist of the Russian Cup.

Alexey took up figure skating in 2003 in Moscow under coach Larisa Fomicheva and later studied with Ilia Klimkin. In 2011 he transferred to the group of Eteri Tutberidze.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season Alexey suffered a recurring stress fracture in his right foot. This lead to his withdrawal from both of his Grand Prix stages in his international senior debut season. Alexey continued to struggle with this injury for the following two years.

In July 2020 it was announced that Alexey was leaving longtime coaches Eteri Tutberidze and Sergei Dudakov.
Since then he has been training at SSHOR Moskvich/Legenda in the group of Viktoria Butsaeva.

Many thanks to @The Finn for creating Alexey's fan fest in 2016! :thank:

I thought that if I will wait a bit someone will surely create a thread for this guy but it seems he still doesn't have one. Anyway, I am pretty sure this guy will be great in near future. He already has everything one needs to become a great skater including 2 quads and 3A. He just needs to land his big jumps consistently.

Erokhov's summer was filled with injuries and illnesses and basically he had to spent his whole summer at the hospital. One can read a bit more about it here, although the article is not solely about Erokhov.
http://www.fsrussia.ru/intervyu/2288-eteri-tutberidze-mne-povezlo-s-uchenikami.html

Erokhov was 3rd at 2016 JGP Japan. Last year he was only 12th at the Russian Junior Championships but he was the winner of the Russian Youth Championships Elder Age.

Even before the JGP season started I predicted that Erokhov could be one of the JGP finalist. At the time I didn't know about his summer worries but nevertheless I still think that he might make it to the final. At the moment his 2nd event seems to be the 7th event where he would face Jun Hwan Cha and Samarin. I do think that Russia should move him to the 6th event where he would be fully capable to win that event. Winning the 7th event would be a lot more difficult even though Erokhov can score really high with clean skates.

Without your introduction of him, I didn't notice Alexey until he showed up at the event. :) He was reminded of retired Menshov somehow. The puppy eyes at the end of his FS as contrasted to his height wanted me to root for him. He still needs to work on to improve elements for better PCS, but can relate to music. Although Alexey doesn't have big distance or height for his jumps, he can rotate really fast in the air.

I like his style, although I would like to see him become a little more expressive & less reserved. He reminds me of Adian a couple seasons ago in that respect. Maybe he just needs more experience, or perhaps Eteri should try those visualization techniques Marina Zueva came up with for Adian since they really seemed to make a difference. And I hope his health problems are behind him now.

Samarin was moved to JGP Estonia. It looks like Erokhov's 2nd event will be JGP Germany where the field is tough. I think moving Samarin instead of Erokhov to an easier event was wrong move by Russian Fed.

Erokhov's name is on the entry list of 4th stage of Russian Cup. We will have to wait and see if he will skate there or not but at the moment I will take this as promising news. Maybe his injury wasn't as serious as some have thought.

4th stage of Russian Cup

FS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAO1pRZvhh0

He was 4th. Kind of disappointng placement but it is great news that his injury wasn't too serious.

This was his 1st Russian cup event and he needs to do well in his 2nd event if he wants to make it to the senior championships. The line up at the 5th and last Russian Cup event should be pretty good because Roman Savosin, Artem Lezheyev, Murad Kurbanov, Vladimir Samoylov and Erokhov among others are expected to skate there. If Erokhov is 4th or better he should make it.

Wow, he scored 168.33 points in his FS today at the 5th stage of Russia Cup. His TES was above 92 points and his total score was above 244 points. No video yet.

Here is his LP, finally.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZdA9l8lBxw

I still think he needs to work on expression and connecting with the audience more...especially if you are trying to sell a warhorse like R&J. But junior nationals will be very interesting this season, for sure.

edit - in this short interview, he says he's going to the Russian-Chinese Games (?) in China next week to compete before Nationals. I haven't heard about this competition...anyone have details?

I just googled Российско-Китайские игры (literally Russian-Chinese game) and according to a link, it seems like a friendly event encompassing all sorts of sport like judo, swimming and etc during summer in 2015, so no winter sports.

With more specific keywords like Российско-Китайские игры фигурному катанию 2016 (Russian-Chinese game figure skating 2016), more accurate sources turn out. http://www.uniorsport.ru/rus_china_winter_2016.php

Russian-Chinese youth winter games
7 - December 12, 2016. Harbin (China).

27 sets of medals in five sports will be raffled: figure skating, speed skating, short track, hockey and alpine skiing (giant slalom and slalom).

Recall that the Russian-Chinese youth summer games have become a tradition. After the competition in the framework of national years (of Russia in China in 2006 and China in Russia in 2007) Games held in 2009 in Beijing, in 2011 in Penza, in 2013 in Shanghai, in 2015 in Irkutsk.

It looks like Alexey will skate at the JGP Austria. Frolov was the one who has been substituted.

Alexey is no longer on the entry list of JGP Austria.

Hopefully it is nothing serious and he can skate at later events.

Good news, Alexey has been assigned to the JGP Poland which means that what ever was the reason he was substituted earlier was something minor.

Hopefully he will get 2nd JGP event also.
