You won't find deer by the Hershey Centre. It's in an industrial area. If you wander off to Erin Mills or parts of Streetsville then it'll be a different story.

Back on topic: I am looking forward to seeing Anna and Luca's SD costumes. The ones at Nebelhorn were placeholders apparently.

I understand your state of mind, but let's look at it some other way : what about the fact that it means that Ice Dance is no longer the business of 4 or 5 teams... even the 8th or 9th team in the world now is seen as a contender. I find this very positive. Less predictable competitions, less margin of error, more interesting events.

GO ICE DANCE :)

I agree! :hap10: At SA it was easy to predict podium, here it's much more complex, but it makes things interesting and exciting! I think it's good for discipline as a whole :)

At least you got right couples on podium ;) Here only V/M are locked for me, unless they do some big mistake. Too bad both SD and FD are so late, I'm going to be asleep for sure :(

You guys lead such adventurous lives! A universe away from Tokyo, where I am at the moment, though the semi-rural areas of Tokyo are recently having bear break-in problems...

We are having more and more bear problems in NJ, but the idiot politicians have decided to do away with the bear hunt.

Yes, for SA I could at least follow the FD but here no chance, it's a shame really. I do like experiencing those competitions live while sharing with other posters. Oh well, at least we should be fine for the rest of the GP all in Europe plus Japan should be fine.

If V/M get a draw close to last and do well, they could score really high. Actually the team that goes last could score very high if they do well because of the competition here.

I have a feeling the scores are gonna fly high this season. I know there are some extra elements so the base is higher but still. The draw didn't seem to be a hindrance for the Shibs in the SD so I'm not sure it still carries so much importance. Remember how C/L scored at Worlds in their FD even though they were not even in the last group.

They hang out on my front lawn and in MY DRIVEWAY!!!!! Just getting out onto the main road in the evening is fraught with danger.

I think you and your neighbors are hanging out on the deer's front lawns and walkways. Their outings anywhere is fraught with danger.

Humans invade and inhabit animals' natural territories and then complain about their invasion. Where are they supposed to go and survive?

The SD competition is a hip-hop battle between top teams. :)

Virtue & Moir, Chock & Bates, Hawayek & Baker, Stepanova & Bukin; fortunately for me, I like all of their SD programs. If they execute well in competition, it is going to be a feast for me.

I wonder whether other GP events have as many SD routines with hip-hip as Skate Canada or not. :luv17:

Skate America had the same number as Skate Canada. Four hip hop numbers. Six swing.

The starting order is up.

Let's see. The Shibutanis, Hubbell & Donohue, Israeli team, Koreans at Skate America...yes 4 hip hop numbers in total (didn't realize it until your response), but the field at Skate Canada is deeper. I only like TT's hip-hip routine among the four while I like ALL mentioned four teams' SD to hip-hip. That's why I'm so excited for the event, but you can disagree with me.

Capellini and Lanotte are the specialist of vintage looking programs/clothes aren't they ? In theory, good draw for V/M not so much for C/B but as I said couple of posts down, I don't think it matters that much anymore.

Kaitlyn & Jean-Luc and Tessa and Scott pick a good draw for them respectively.

honestly Virtue and Moir should easily rout this field, Gilles and Poirier could surprise they have great programs this year.

SC is deeper at the top. With two World champions and a World silver medal team. Then three more teams that have finished top ten in the past, one of whom has qualified for a GPF. As far as the hip hop debuts that I have seen from teams planning to compete at SC, I think they have potential. Stepanova & Bukin's program was my favorite debut of the four, and I really enjoyed Hawayek & Baker's debut as well. I think these two programs struck me as successful because both teams are young and attempting to break through, and both programs highlighted their own improvement and the more fun, youthful side of the team members. I appreciate that C&B and V&M are stepping outside their usual comfort zones to try the hip hop, but I have different expectations for these teams and I felt that both debuts could have been stronger. Likely they will be here.

SA was also deep, much deeper than last season (when there were only two top-ten teams attending). Two world champion medal teams and three more top ten teams this season (two of whom have qualified for the GPF). I loved the Shibs SD the most of all the hip hop programs I have seen this season. And Min & Gamelin's SD is clearly their strength this season, though I believe mainly due to the blues. They have been more successful with it than their free throughout the preseason, and they've competed at least four times so there really is a pattern there. I don't care for Tobias & Tkachenko's SD (I really liked their waltz last season, and this is not winning me over). I like Hubbell & Donahue's blues & I think the hip hop choreo has potential, but I can't forgive the program for the multitude of music cuts. I think if they settled on one hip hop piece, they would be more competitive this season.

All the dance events are deep this season. In part because the field itself has expanded internationally and is deeper than it has ever been. In part because ten teams are now invited to each event. But mostly because we also have a non-seeded Olympic gold medal team, a non-seeded World medal team, and a non-seeded GPF qualifying team in the mix this season. Five of the six events will have one of those teams entered along with the typical top-seeded teams. And both Virtue & Moir and Bobrova & Soloviev can be expected to finish top ten this season.
