._.

Satoko and Evgenia are locked top 2 unless someone melted the ice.....

-_-

Battle for #3 is on, though!

I'll be whispering "fall fall" during the other podium contenders' skates so that Rika places on the podium as high as possible. :dev2:

This is really a fantastic line up!

For sure, Satoko and Medvedeva are a lock for 1-2 (Cannot see them have any sorts of mini meltdown and I do not wish that either). However, it is really the bronze medal fight that will be interesting here..It seems like Chartrand, Osmond and Nagasu are the ones, you can never really count on but not completely count out either. I do believe if all were to go clean (a big if of course), and also taking Tukt and Rika in account, the standing would after the SP would be something like
1.) Medvedeva 74-76
2.) Osmond 73-74 let's be fair, judges love her and if she were to nail all her elements including the 3F/3T, they will score her VERY high..
3.) Satoko 73-74 should be very close to Osmonds score
4.) Mirai 70-71 I would consider this as a very good score for her in this field
5-7 cannot really tell because I think any of a clean Tukt, Chartrand and Rika would score around 68-70..

However, I think placements could change a lot after the LP as not sure what Osmond or Chartrand will be able to deliver and Na Hyun KIM should be in the top 5 mix too..

A guess would be something like
1.)Medvedeva
2.) Satoko
3.) Rika or Mirai (I have high hopes that Mirai will put it together here but as she is rarely on top before Nationals so a clean Rika could still sneak above her (but seems not always receive much love from judges)
4.) Rika or Mirai
5.) tough one...a semi clean Osmond or a clean skate from Tukt/Chartrand perhaps.. I am not impressed with Tukt but her LP is at least better than her SP and should score well. Then again, Kim has proved that with a clean skate she could be up there too so hard to predict :scratch2:

Anyway, 3-9 placements could be very close score wise, cannot wait :hap10:

I think Chartrand will surprise many, given that she is familiar with the arena and actually has practiced dry runs at the Hersey Centre.

Re Mirai, I hope she can bring big jumps here, or UR's could be a problem. Judging stateside (imo), tends to be more forgiving than it is outside of the US. Mirai's biggest competition at Skate Canada will be, ...Mirai.

Liza skated a clean LP last week but I just don't feel her overall skating is at the top level. Even when she lands all of her jumps, many parts of her program just look lazy— she stands for several seconds with some arm movements while her feet are not skating at all (which is almost unbearable to watch), plus her ice coverage problem, which will be more glaring when fast skaters like Kaetlyn is there.

I forgot Mirai is on the list. Now it will be a 4-way competition for the 3rd. But more likely Kaelyn. Like someone said, judges love her. She can receive huge PCS even when she has multiple mistakes in her jump. Plus home advantage.

No Mirai? :eekn: Or were you just being tough on mirai4life? ;)

I hope Mirai can skate clean like she did at Autumn Classic International in Canada a few weeks back and hit another 73.40 in her short. That would sure mix things up.

I would say she was very lucky to win ACI with 5 under rotated/downgraded jumps in the LP. A stricter technical specialist could ding 2 more of her jumps (1 from SP 1 from LP). She still tends to land on her toe pick then turn backward to cheat on rotation, so I am not very optimistic...

Maybe she'll get lucky again. We'll see. She's had a lot of luck in 2016. Hope she does well. I hope they all do well. That's when I enjoy skating the most. Good luck to them all!
