*chewing fingernails* Why aren't Paris and Matthew on this list? They only need another three tenths!

For the 2 French Pairs couples it is a skate off to get the second Euro spot.

Interesting to see how Hurtado/Khaliavin will score versus Kaliszek/Spodirev and Muramoto/Reed.

It will be very interesting see how Kurakova will do here. She has been great at the Russian Cup events but she wasn't great at her latest domestic event. Hopefully she will do great here because there isn't much time to work things out before Russian Junior nationals.

It will also be interesting to see how Nikita Nazarov / Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva will do at their 1st international event. They did very well at the Russian cup events considering she is a newbie in ice dancing.

Sometimes ISA's decision - making simply baffles me.

They don't send Stephens & Dodds here, and yet they are being sent to the Asian Games, which is AFTER Four Continents.

It is Kurakova who won here 1 year ago?

Yep. She was 2 points behind Nikitina after the SP, but won the FS by 20 points!

If anybody is interested in any of the other results from last year, the 2016 Entries / Results Page can be found here:

http://www.pfsa.com.pl/results/1516/TOR0116/

Sorry to see that Polina isn't in Toruń this year, Liud. Has she got any international competitions pencilled in over the next few months?

(This isn't a loaded question. Although it is Daniella that appears in my avatar, you can rest assured that I support ALL the skaters representing Cyprus! :agree:  )

Apologies for the :eek:topic:

I can understand them going to the Asian Games. After all, it is a Major multi-sport event.

But, I agree that it doesn't make sense to not come here and attempt to get those three tenths needed to achieve the minimum TES.

Could it be a money issue? Is it simply not economical for them to come to Europe to do one competition (all the other Senior B's coming up are just for Singles skating)?

It would be a shame if they missed out on competing at Four Continents by such a slim margin just because it was too expensive to travel to a Senior B.

But, this does bring up another issue. The nature of the calendar.

Of all the Senior B's being held between the GP Final and Senior Worlds, only the Toruń Cup and the Bavarian Open cater for all categories. And the Bavarian Open is being held on the same weekend as Four Continents.

The majority of those Senior B's are just for Singles. The Grand Prix of Bratislava in December had Dance as well as Singles, while the Challenge Cup and Cup of Tyrol in February will both have Pairs as well as Singles.

But that is it. Just 5 Senior B's between December and April which cater for more than just Singles skating.

How on Earth are Pairs and Dance partnerships supposed to get the Minimum TES's if there is only 1 competition for them to attempt to get it in?!

The calendar, or more specifically the format of the events, seriously needs looking at.
