Ah, didn't realise we had a thread for the Universiade yet.

Just to give you advanced warning. As usual, this Major will be a round of the ISU Championships Predictions Game. The 2nd round, to be precise; after the European Championships.

EDIT: Here is the link to the Predictions Thread:

http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?62678

But, please be aware that the Universiade starts 3 days after the European Championships finish. So, there is not a lot of turnaround between them.

UPDATE: 30[SUP]th[/SUP] January 2017

Since this post in near the top of the thread, I have decided to paste my Eurosport TV schedules in here, rather than have them on a later page.

As I did with Europeans, I made out the British Eurosport schedule using the Sky EPG (possibly the last time I will be able to do this ! ).

For the other versions, I used the search facility on the Eurosport Player website. At the moment, the search facility is only going as far as Thursday. So, I will have to repeat the process later in the week to get the times for the subsequent figure skating broadcasts.

As usual, here is the table if you want to do your own searches:

just wanted to say that the tickets for the figure skating events are SO cheap - $10 at most (for the gala), and they start from around $1.3! so if anyone wants to go, WELCOME TO KAZAKHSTAN :)

Quick question: does anyone know if Team USA is going to this year's universiade?
No one seems to have taken part in the one in Granada in 2015, and I'd really love to know if the universiade is going to be FULLY worth the 1200 km journey to Almaty! Although going to see Denis, Aiza Imambek, possibly Boyang and Team Russia is a reason enough, haha! Plus we don't know who from Team Japan is going yet.

Boyang says he is going from what I've read. He has a busy 2nd half of the season.

What...? As a Pairs fan, I'm gravely dissapointed :disapp: And I feel sorry for Pairs competitiors, that they're the only ones that are excluded. This is even more weird since, there is also news that Figure Skating is the thid most popular sport at Universiade based on tickets sold.....

Looks like pairs have been removed from the event.

http://www.inform.kz/en/universiade-pair-figure-skating-removed-for-technical-reasons_a2989386
"There are organizational and technical reasons of excluding pair figure skating from the Universiade program. Those who purchased the tickets for pair figure skating performances can return them and get total refund at the ticket offices"

Maybe there aren't enough entries?

Thanks for the link!

Google translate
Competitions Winter Universiade 2017 in pair skating excluded from the program of a particular event because of the application of only two duos representing one country, so we need this kind of figure skating in the world to develop that history is not repeated in the future, he said the agency "F-Sport "Vice-President of the International Skating Union (ISU) Alexander Lakernik.

Application for tournament sports pairs the Universiade-2017, which will take place from 29 January to 8 February in Almaty, until recently, included only two duets - Alisa Efimova / Alexander Korovin and Bogdana Lukashevich / Alexander Stepanov. All competitors are Russian.

"It so happened that the two couples remained in the application for Universiade tournament, and two - from Russia and when two pairs of the same country, the competition is not considered to be international Initially at the Universiade were to speak, as I recall, about 8 pairs, but then.. they their participation has not been confirmed. In pair skating before it happened that involved a pair of four in all, a lot of them had never been. If this fact (removal of the form from the tournament program) and damages the image, then the image of the pair skating, and not to the image . We need to develop the Universiade pair skating in the world to such cases was not ", - said Lakernik phone.
