The lack of US junior ladies bothers me. 😒 C'mon USFS, give Starr, Ashley, and Alexia some international exposure too!

There are other Spring internationals. Maybe they'll get sent to Challenge Cup (in The Netherlands, February 23-26) or Triglav Trophy (April 5-9).

I think Emma may go Spring Gardena. As for Starr and Ashley, their on the alternate list so it's unlikely.

Emmy? Why her over Starr and Ashley? (Not sure what alternates list you mean.)

Also, it looks like it's not Gardena Spring Trophy anymore. ISU has it as Egna Spring Trophy now.

Starr and Ashley are first alternates for Jr. Worlds. They've both met the Minimum required scores in their international compeditions they went to last year. JW is in March, so they won't schedule them for anything until next season. Emma has no international experience. It's a tradition to send high scoring novices and maybe a junior to Spring Gardena to get their feet wet.

Sad for the name change. That was a lovely name.

Ohhhhhh, I wasn't even thinking Junior Worlds. I was blanking on what you were referring to. I was thinking I missed some random Spring assignment going out.

The name change is mainly because of the location change. Competition was in Sëlva di Val Gardena, and is now in Egna instead.

Emmy (not sure if it's autocorrect or not) should probably get the assignment, then, yeah. Maybe they'll give Kaitlyn another spring comp too since she can't do JWs. But at least the Novice girls (both gold and silver medalists) are going to be at the Bavarian Open!

Ah. Well that explains that. Gardena went so well with Spring though. I'm surprised that they gave the gold and silver a novice champs Bavarian a open, because they normally send them to a Spring Gardena as a first comp. maybe they finally realized that sending them so late in the off season interferes with their preparation for next season. I know both Alexia and Haley had challenging seasons. Alexia used the same jump layout as she did in novice instead of increasing difficulty. If they go earlier they can focus on their junior programs for the next season.

Also maybe because they were going to send any potential teams who needed min TES, they might have figured it's easier to have one big delegation (14 skaters!) rather than scattering them all to various comps (even though it would be nice to see more skaters get more events)

Sounds good to me! The youngsters can cheer for each other, sight see, and support each other. It really should be a team effort.

Does anyone know why the USFS didn't send Caroline Zhang? I didn't think she had the minimums and yet she is a Worlds alternate. Moreover, she deserves some internationals after finishing 5th!

No, we're not quite sure why they didn't send her.

At least not yet, because the USA entries aren't "official" until they're up on the USFS International Assignments page, which they are not at the time I am posting this.

All US assignments are now official, as they are listed on their International Assignments page.

Caroline Zhang is assigned to Challenge Cup instead of here at the Bavarian Open!

ETA:

So now Angela Wang is showing as assigned here too!

I have updated the OP (which is no longer OP?!), with all that was announced while I was at the AO. It should be up to date again ;) As previously mentioned, the event will already start on Tuesday evening, with the SP of Novice Pairs and Advanced Novice Boys.

Thursday will be Ladies day (Advanced Novice & Junior), so make sure to bring some flowers if you come to visit Oberstdorf. I am thinking of supplying some social media coverage, as the event will not be streamed (latest information I have). How said coverage will look like I don´t know yet.

Daily recaps are to be expected (if time allows) and a column about a week after the event. If you have any questions let me know. A small announcement will be added to the OP as the event comes closer and I am quite pleased with the names on the list so far. Let´s see who makes it to the final line up ;)

Alex D we look forward to your thorough reporting! My request would be: is it possible to have a photo or little clip of the different athletes? Whatever you can see or do. It's disappointing that there is no live stream seeing how many different nations are sending athletes and considering the great job Deutsche Eislauf-Union e.V. does with Nebelhorn. Well, we'll have to take whatever we can get.
