Looks like 4 teams have withdrawn from the Novice Pairs event:
Joanna HUBBART / William HUBBART E2
Grace KNOOP / Mark SADUSKY P3
Maxine WEATHERBY / Jonathan KIM P4
Berit CUMMINGS / Jabe ROBERTS P5

and have been replaced by

Lots of withdrawals and replacements this year....

Thanks chuck. Turns out I had an updated list, so I already noted them above!

I was very impressed with Coleman and Griffin. Huge double twist. Apparently they are not only a new pair, they are completely new to pairs as of this summer!

Well, I'm still very impressed with Coleman and Griffin! They won by almost 14 points, 30 points (!) ahead of the pewter medalists. Big podium spread. Anyway, neither of them had done pairs until this year, and Griffin hadn't competed in two years (ice dance background), and they thought, "Hey, why not, let's form a pair," and six months later they've decisively won nationals. Good for them! :hap93:

And just in time too, since next year is their only JGP-eligible year since Derrick turns 21 in July 2017, less than a month after the July 1st deadline. Hopefully, they're able to swing an assignment, since two of the eight pairs USFS sent this year (Liu/Johnson and Digerness/Neudecker) have since aged out.

I think it's a new record score for Novice. I looked back to 2008 and nobody even broke 130. What an impressive debut for such a fresh pair!

Wow, a new record! Oh, that's great for them! I do hope they get a JGP. I'd think such a promising start will surely work in their favor.
