that's crazy that Japan who is the organiser and has one of the deepest field in the world in ladies, only sends one skater. What a shame.

Hallelujah! :cheer:   :party2: :points:

Strangely, the pages we were looking at the past few days still have the Provisional Entry Lists up. :disapp:

Having gone through all the tables, the only differences are to the Ladies category. The Men, Pairs and Dance categories all have the same personnel.

I've put the Start Order Tables for the Ladies SP and the Short Dance up in the Original Post of this thread. The Men and Pairs will follow whenever they become available.

That is, if I can access the website. I just cannot get the website to load in the mornings. :drama: I don't know if it is because of internet usage in Japan at that time of the day, but the problem is definitely not at my end because every other website I have been going to is opening fine.

This is just not good enough for a Major Sporting Event!

3. Elizabet Tursynbayeva (her surname is actually Tursynbaeva at her ISU profile but not in the entry list in game so not sure which one i should type :scratch2:)

The names in the Entry Lists are a nightmare. We have the full range, from different spellings (TURSYNBAEVA being down as TURSYNBAYEVA) to completely different names (Aldrin MATHEW being down as A. KANDATHIPARAMBIL; YU Shu Ran being down as Jessica YU).

This week's scorers are going to have to have their wits about them. So, think yourself lucky it's your week off. ;)

(On reflection, I probably should have changed the names to match the ISU Bios. But, I wanted the names to match what was on the event's website, in case the results pages used these spellings. And, hence make it easier for the scorers to copy and paste the results into the algorithm spreadsheet).

Pairs; its gonna be hard to score with all the "kim"
1. YU Xiaoyu / ZHANG Hao
2. PENG Cheng / JIN Yang
3. RYOM Taeok / KIM Jusik
4. KIM Su yeon / KIM Hyungtae
5. SUZAKI Miu / KIHARA Ryuichi
6. KIM Kyueun / KAM Alex kang chan
7. STEPHENS Paris / DODDS Matthew

Arrrgh!!!!!! I never even twigged that!!!

For Su Yeon and Hyung Tae, I'll use his first name. For the rest, I'll use their partner's name! ;)

OK, enough chatting. I have to get back to my own Predictions!

The Ladies may have a pretty strong field but, even if Kaori had been brought in to replace Sakoto, I would still have put Rika at the top.

I just love that girl!

But, I was torn over the order to put the girls I was putting alongside her on the podium. In the end, I went with Zijun and then Elizabet. Papa Mishin has done wonders with Zijun this season, and I do think she could be at least silver here.

The remaining positions were going to be a choice between the Koreans. HOWEVER, given that Ha Hyun is still injured, I have instead put Da Bin in 4th and Kailani in 5th.

I kept the rest of my Top 10 in absolute PB order, except for one exception. I promoted Mambekova from 12th up to 10th. I just loved that girl at the Universiade, and really want her to make a name for herself!

Being realistic, there were only ever 2 couples in with a chance of winning the Ice Dance competition. Before Four Continents last week, Muramoto / Reed were 1 point ahead Wang / Liu. Now, they are 3 points behind.

On paper, this could go either way. But, there was a 14 point difference between them last week. Consequently, I went with the Chinese.

I kept the rest in absolute PB order, because the gaps between their absolute PB’s are pretty big.

I had intended to get everything done tonight, but I just realised that I would maybe need to finish watching last week’s ski jumping from Pyeongchang before the World Championships start tomorrow.

Men. Oh my goodness what a competitive top of the field! There are 6 guys who could have a chance of winning if things go their way.

Being more realistic, we all know who should be the three guys who end up standing on the podium. And when you look at their absolute PB’s, there is absolutely nothing separating all three of them!

Jin, Ten and Uno is the absolute PB order. But, Denis is the reigning champion. And he has been doing a lot better this season than he has in the past few seasons. So, I think I’ll go for him. Of the younger skaters, Shoma has been having the better season. So, I put him into second position.

Next on the absolute PB order were two guys who I would love to see cause an upset and get onto the podium. Yan and Mura. However, neither of them are having the best of seasons. Mura’s season is going better than Yan’s, so I put him into 4th and yan into 5th.

I kept Ge in 6th. Although, if this does turn out to be his swansong season (which I personally think would be madness given that next season is the Olympic season, and Uzbekistan doesn’t have anybody as good to replace him), it would be nice to see him finish higher.

For the rest, I kept them in absolute PB order. Because if all goes according to form, they aren’t going to be troubling the guys in the Top 6.

Well, I think we all know that the Pairs title is going to China. But, which of the sets of former partners is going to get bragging honours?

The hottie and the auld man, that’s who! ;)

And who will be joining th two Chinese couples on the podium? Well, if you look at the absolute PB’s, there is only one candidate. The North Koreans. They are way ahead of the rest of the field.

In fact, the whole field is pretty spread out. The only real question mark is whether to put Kim / Kam into 6th or Takahashi / Shibuta . There is less than a point separating the Koreans’ absolute PB from September’s Autumn Classic and the new Japanese partnership’s score from December’s Nationals.

Takahashi and Shibuta both had very successful careers in the past. So, given their past pedigree, I’m going with them as my alternates.

Here are the Pairs results.

I have a confession to make. I never noticed that Suzaki / Kihara withdrew after the SP. But, don’t worry, I have removed them from everybody’s Predictions. So, nobody is going to lose out.

There was actually quite a bit of editing to be done to the predictions, largely due to there being so many Korean skaters with the surname “Kim”. And, as a result, I had to be very careful of what order I did the coding in.

Takahashi / Shibata had to be done before all the Kims, because “Ryo” was going to be my code for Ryom/ Kim, and it was catching those predictions that included Shibata’s full name as well. After doing the North Koreans, it was the turn of the South Korean / Kiwi partnership, which had “Kam” as the code.

So as to make things even more clearer, I then replaced all the predictions that just said “Kim / Kim” with their full names, so that I could them code them as “Hyu”.

Thank goodness this situation arose here, where there were not many players, and not at Worlds! :drama:

All part of the fun!

Anyway, there may not have been many players, but there were high scores. Of the 17 players, 10 managed to get onto the podium! And two of these players managed to get the perfect score!

So, here are the podium positions:

GOLD with 75 points: matmuh, NoNameFace.

SILVER with 70 points: apgold, breadstal, CaroLiza_fan, Tastetherainbow.

BRONZE with 65 points: daphenaxa, invisiblespiral, Nathan13.

Congratulations!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points:

I also want to give special mention to Sabrina who, despite only predicting on the podium positions, managed to score 30 points by getting the Top 2 right. Unfortunately, Narumi and Ryo finishing 6[SUP]th[/SUP] meant that it was not a clean sweep.

To find out more, please see the spreadsheet.
