What a final! Few thoughts...congratulation to Hanyu- what a skate! Also Shoma- I particularly admire his artistry paired with his tremendous athleticism. Boyang - fabulous jumps. I just feel that his component scores are over-rewarded. There is a 30 point difference in the technical score between Boyang and Jason Brown, and rightfully so. But in the component score Brown beats Jin by 3 points. Really! Maybe the artistic difference isn't 30 but 3 is ridiculous. What an effort by Patrick Chan - still my favorite. Javi worked until the last minute to try and earn the points but it just wasn't there today. Nathan must be devastated but it was obviously was too much on a 17 year old to do 6 quads and perform on the world stage. But huge congrats to Nathan and Jason for earning 3 spots for next year.

Well, his 4Lo GOE was 1 point under Hanyu's, and his 4F 0.3 under Nathan's, with negative GOE on the 4T. That seems pretty fair. All three combinations were crackers and i think there's where he was able to capitalize on the +GOE, as opposed to Jin.

Well, it's just my taste. I'm not American, so it's not my anthem, I understand my opinion is different one. It's good that you like it, if it's you anthem!

I deeply resent Nathan Chen's transition marks in a way I nearly never do PCS. Fine give him the TES marks out the wazoo but as far as transitions go any mark over 8 is similar to what I put in the bags I carry around when I walk my dog.
loved the podium. Well deserved come from behind win from Yuzuru, good fight from Shoma, and lights out by Boyang. all deserved their spots. the last flight was a joy to watch... i wasn't sure how it would go after the not so great flight before them, but yuzu got it started with a bang. Extra proud of him after the injury to his foot this summer and having to play catch up all season...Scary to think what the marks will be when Yuzu brings his 4lutz into play...
Shoma was so closed to getting gold. But he was nervous going into the Lz.
Congrats to Yuzuru, Shomo, and Boyang!! Well deserved medals although my sentimental heart was hoping Javi and Patrick could each pull off one more Worlds medal each for the 'old' guys! My heart was breaking all over the place! I LOVE each and every guy in the final flight as well as Jason in the penultimate group! ALL the skaters did their respective countries proud! Good fight!
My baby boy Nathan, you are only 17 and good things are to come! :clapper: He fought hard out there! I wonder if his boots were an issue? He posted a pic of his skates tied up with hockey laces to make them tighter per his coach's recommendation. But no excuses! He was a little bit off his game but hung in there for 6th and 3 spots at next year's Games for the U.S.!
Top 6 for his rookie Worlds debut and securing 3 spots at next year's Olympics for the U.S. along with Jason is all kinds of awesomeness!! And Jason! Top 7 against an arsenal of quads!! It speaks to his tremendous skating skills and superb artistry that he scored so well and in spite of a fall!
I just want to give all the skaters a big bear hug! <3
Sexy Javi couldn't hang on to his World title but he's got an 'it' factor that no one else has and hopefully he'll come back even stronger for the Olympic season!

Nathan got a pair of custom made boots last month that broke down quickly. They were holding on by a thread this week. Last week he tried to have them repaired, but he couldn't get his jumps consistent. It was rotten timing.

Very happy for the 3 medalists.
Yuzu came from behind and was flawless. This is one of my least favourite programs of his though so I hope he doesn't keep it for next yearHowever, he was very in a league of his own today.. Bravo.
Shoma : well, I am so happy that there are no tears this year. He is a engaging athlete with a definite flair and charm.
Boyang : A well deserved bronze ! Good for you ! I am impressed at how well he delivered at worlds again this year considering his not so good season. PCS slightly too high but he is fun to watch so why not give him credit for the entertainment. Very good skate today!
Javi : CBC stream died when he started making mistakes so i have not seen the whole thing... but from reading the comments here... wow... a real melt down.... he had a great lead in the short.. but I think it's fair he was placed only 6th in the long... was is not fair : almost the same PCS as Patrick....
Patrick lost most of his points on that stupid 3A combo... well 1) it was marked as a sequence... so already he loses quite a lot of points... it seems like the 1/2 loop never was there... and he did a 2S which was not counted as well.... BUT REALLY, besides that, the second quad toe wasn't great but he held on his feet... hos is this worth 94 points????
WHY? 94??? We have seen Patrick score way more with much less performance... seriously... I understand there were two top contenders left... but he was already behind boyang even with a 96... for me the ranking is fine... there's no problem with that... Patrick didn't get his axel counted due to the botched combo... he will figure that one out... new jumping pass for him... the issue i have with his low PCS score is that it clearly shows that a guy who attempts 6 quads, including 2 with falls, only 2 with positive GOE can still get a better free program score.... Patrick should be way ahead with his PCS and the ISU should recognize his value versus the value of botched quads.
Nathan : you are full of promise. I am looking forward to years of watching you, boyang and shoma compete. Lots of pressure tonight.... but the American fans will be thrilled with your contribution and Jason's to bring back 3 spots...
for those wondering about Canada's 3 spots... it's sad... but it's no big deal. You won't hear me cry over this all year... the reality is that if both guys didn't get to 13, then why bring a 3rd one... I stand by what I believe here.
Kevin : very good performance... low balled on PCS... one less carrot and it may have made a big difference. You will have to fight for your spot next year but you are definitely on the right track....9th place is very commendable.
That's it for me.... I won't take part in the wuzrobbed discussions because if anyone was lowballled :it was the Canadians
Agreed with the not loving this FS from Yuzu! I love the guy but Seimei was the last time I was truly moved by his free prog... BUT... today for the first time I've got goosebumps from his current free. Still, hopefully he won't use this next season too.
Shouma is a right darling, and him happy and not in tears are enough for me :33

I LOVE the USSR/AKA current Russian melody anthem. Best anthem in the world IMO. Speaking of collectivism though, now that I live in the US we could use some (a lot) of that. #ScrewCorporations
I moved here from Norway a while back and a good half of people I meet who ask me about my accent say: "Why did you move from that socialist paradise to here?"

The most amazing thing of this amazing night is Boyang medaling. I dont think ANYONE even considered him possibly getting on the podium again this year. Last year it was a bit of a surprise, more would have predicted Uno or Chan as the 3rd medalist, but he was atleast more of a contender than he seemed to be this year. This year I dont see anyone saw him on that podium. And 86 on PCS for him is huge and pretty shocking.

don't ask them anything to do with history, they will be so off. Their analysis during the skates are good though
