bolded part LOL :laugh2:

but please... show me an example of his most beautiful 4S :) i'd love to see it and rejoice !!!!

His 2016 JGP Tallinn LP; his 4S is "really high" and "gorgeous" according to Ted Barton :) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z6JZJr4rNQ

You may recall that I said on the 2017 Jr. Worlds thread that Nic's 3A was tall and gorgeous (just like he is :p ), and I'll reuse that description for Roman's 4S (and Roman himself ;) ; what a long-limbed beauty).

Dropping a line to note that the Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships are on tomorrow through Sunday. I'm wondering if some Canadians will be giving their new programs an early outing there....

It's usually accredited internationally [i.e. by both the USFSA and Skate Canada]. The schedule shows the Junior and Senior men together, which might be appealing for our Junior men who skate up domestically.

No flight lists up as yet [nor does it have its own thread in the competition area of GS].... but the main page shows a link to live streaming: http://www.lakeplacidskating.com/events/figure.php

:eek:topic: Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop reading and skip to the next post if you hate tennis....

Canadians......I was reading some posts on the Tennis Site and it seems that Milos Raonic is being accused of being "Too Canadian." What does that mean.....He's being accused of being "Too Nice." It seems his coach was looking for someone to "Piss Him Off" before each of his Wimbledon matches. His coach seems to think that the one thing he needs to push himself to the title, is a bit of a temper. What do you guys think? Do you think anger is a useful tool? Do you think that if I told Patrick he couldn't skate his way out of paper bag, that it would help? In my case, that would never have worked as I relied on my training but, some people like to be told that they can't do something, just to prove they can.

Well, I think every time a racquet hits a ball there can be a hint of frustration...Sharapova and the William sisters, as examples.

I agree, maybe Milos needs to develop a big grunt to match his big body. Ok Back to skating. How is Nam looking these days. Other than his Bromance, I haven't really heard much about his skating.

i am sorry..wrong animal : cougar... :laugh2:

quads multiply quickly in canada these days

conrad is getting them all but flip and axel
nic is also flirting with 3 (lo,t,lu)
nam and pat (t,s,f)
keegan (lu,t)
kevin, benet, shaquille (t,s)

it leaves the guys with one quad (joseph and stephen) in the dust but they are still only 15 and 13 if they haven't had a bday without telling me personally ;)

:roll5: Now, now 4everchan, Sarah as we know is too young to be considered a cougar. A Detroit tabi in training maybe, or a kitten...smitten, but a cougar, not even possible. Best to keep your claws and paws, to yourself.

Welcome back SarahS. and TGee, we have missed you!

1) Nam is looking great. He is quadding his way to the top of the Canadian podium again (after Patrick retires though... not before) LOL

He has been spotted doing beautiful 4S and good 4F... he already has a 4T... so if he builds up some Chiddy thigh muscles and gets some speed and deeper edges, he could be a big threat. (mrrice, you really should go check Patrick's fan fest once in a while.. the pictures and videos we have in there are enough to make you fall heads over heels at least once a day...)

2) now.... Milos is Milos... what worked for McEnroe or Connors is not part of Milos. He is a smart, composed, poised young man. He is not winning slams because he is too Canadian, he is just not as good as the fab fours.... who are starting to fade by the way. As a matter of fact, Milos keeps getting injured and that for me is the main issue. He is not used to grind it on the courts for several days in a row... wimbledon is a big 2 weeks of that.... I wish him the best as reaching the finals last year means he has a lot of points to defend.

I don't thing being angry can work in a sport like figure skating. Do not forget the performing part of the sport... Also, honestly, when i swam, the worst races I had were when I tried to be wild and aggressive... it builds up tension and wastes energy. Considering how free Patrick needs to be when skating, to have all the extension and depth he shows so well, it would be a bad strategy. What Patrick needs IMHO if the simple believe that he is ready to skate his programs flawlessly, that he has done all the work he needed to do to get ready and that he is just a figure skater, skating for the pure love of his sport. I think that when he is in doubt, or caring about results or a jump, that is when weird things happen like this year in the LP at worlds on his 3A combo, which cost him the bronze... simple as that.... doubt for a second on a new combo...bang... misfire .

So go Milos! Go Nam!

and GO PATRICK !!!!!!!

So much has happened in the few weeks I have been absent but you guys have kept things covered so thumbs up to you folks.:thumbsup:

I'm going to share this - the criteria for JGP selection, as well as how many spots & which competitions Canadian juniors will be at.
https://info.skatecanada.ca/hc/en-c...n-to-Jr-Grand-Prix-International-Competitions

That 195 for men is pretty high... Who would this apply to currently? Samuel Turcotte and Roman Sadovsky are the two I can think of right now.

The NextGen Team selection guidelines appear to be a copy of the JGP selection criteria, with extra info for novice skaters.

I noticed that the Boys-Eddy siblings are absent from the NextGen pairs roster. :eek:hwell:

There's an ice dance seminar going on in Montreal. Vancouver's ice dancers are there: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWBhnPKFg0s/

Veronik Mallet is back and getting choreo from David Wilson: https://www.instagram.com/p/BV-wGNYgpUi/

Some nice photos from Patinage Québec: https://www.instagram.com/p/BV5paQnFWY1/

Pairs skating is so much more than just lifts so I wouldn't bank on an easy transition for Nicolas unless he's got past experience. TGee could tell you more about it.

Of the senior team skaters doing summer competitions so far we've heard that

Keegan Messing is doing Skate Detroit
Nam Nguyen is doing Minto
Alaine Chartrand is doing Minto and Championnats québécois d'été
Kaetlyn Osmond and Larkyn Austman are doing Wild Rose
Nicolas Nadeau, Carolane Soucisse / Shane Firus, Meagan Duhamel / Eric Radford, Kirsten Moore-Towers / Michael Marinaro, Julianne Séguin / Charlie Bilodeau, and Camille Ruest / Drew Wolfe are all doing Championnats québécois d'été

There will be a lot of other Canadian skaters at these events, and skaters at other events (like Michelle Long at Lake Placid this weekend) so keep an eye out for streaming and results.

I really enjoyed all these updates--and others on the thread. Especially happy to see Veronik Mallet back on the ice! Always liked her.
