Glad we got some info. Why mess with something if it is not broken? Besides, he had enough issues to deal with this summer that he didn't need to add trying out new choreographers to the list. I am sure he will head home as soon as his program with jeff is done and he can have a good couple of months there.

So Yuzu's sp is by Jeff and LP by Shae which was already completed by Faoi Kobe.

So glad to hear an update about his programs and that it will be done by Shae and Jeff. Considering how well they match the past seasons I am hoping for another great programs from yuzuru. Also, this means he was already learning his FP choreography in June?

That too but Shoma is more like a child he loves to look after. Yuzuru and Tatsuki were close and comfortable enough to tease each other all the time. From Yuzuru asking Tatsuki to be his dance partner at the Sochi gala to Yuzuru dancing to Don't Stop Me Now at the GPF gala last season, they're a funny pair.

It is nice to know they are pretty close considering the age gap. But then again Yuzu seems close with Oda too, so age maybe is just a number. It is still amusing to me that yuzuru is actually one of the veterans/seniors now in Team Japan considering the more senior ones mostly have retired.

He said they never cared about the age gap. Kanako also mentioned Tatsuki is one of her closest friends. That's because they were competing in juniors together and they turned seniors at the same time. Then they both made it to the Olympics. His relationship with Nobu is different, Nobu is friendly to everyone and behaves like he's younger than all of them.

I posted these in the Friendships thread in The Edge. The closeness is pretty obvious. :)

He has written an autobiography? I wish it were released in English!

Regarding illness, I’ve heard that he has asthma. Is it true? If so, how on earth does he manage to skate competitive programs?

What does he say about Requiem, please? I find it one of the most moving fs programs I’ve ever seen, because of the music and Yuzuru’s skating, but I don’t really know what it’s about.

Me too because I don't understand a word of japanese lol.
About his asthma it's true , tbh I don't know much about the sicknesds but they are able to control it well plus I don't see he is very open about it.
His requiem program as other ex he's skated it's about the 2011 Earthquake.
Sorry if the info it's not enough.

Yes, Oda definitely strikes me as such kind of a man. Yuzu seems to be more specific about his emotional investment in friendships. Machida is even more special commintment-oriented, I think. He's the most prominent introvert after all.
I must admit I've always been a big fan of YuzuMacchi bromance  as well as of Machida himself. They always seemed to be great friends. I remember many funny episodes which happened between them at PIW 2014. They're really comfortable with each other, allowing each other so many teasing privileges  Also SA 2012 backstage after FP. I don't have a video with me but it still remains in my heart as one of the most emotional FS friendship moments.

This is a small part of Brian Orser's interview to the "Art Entertainment Magazine"- It was translated in Russian in closed group and my friend translated it into English. Orser said:
"We have been discussing his participation at Nagano Faoi tiil the last days, but it was more of a convincing him from my side than discussion, Yuzuru's health condition was not good enough to do shows, if he come and do shows I know he wouldn't have refrained from jumping quads- you know well how he is."

It's true that Yuzu has asthma, but it isn't mentioned at all in Blue Flame 2(Yuzu's book).
Well, I think writing about asthma is too much because there are tons of other injuries and sickness.(I'm just joking, or maybe not.)
I found an article (in Japanese) that introduces the content of the book:http://joshi-spa.jp/545867 A title of the article is already :scowl:

As Hanmgse writes, Requiem is about 3.11 earthquake. When He first performed it in Kanazawa
last year, remembering many scenes of the earthquake, he felt so much pain. He tried to express his own suffering. He even cried at the practice. But as the season progressed,
he could control his feeling and has come to think "the audience should feel whatever they like.
They don't need to feel my suffering."

Yuzu also says that in January his foot hurt, and that due to the gossip magazine's article
he knows nothing of, he couldn't believe people (人間不信 how should I translate this?!).
He thought "only while I'm skating I am happy. I can only find happiness in skating."

Ahhh, my poor English:palmf: I'm sure someone who knows better than me will translate all the interesting parts very soon!

You guys should be more confident about your english. You do very well and i have worked with many people just learning english, so I know what it is like. Besides, english speakers can figure out what you mean, so do not worry. We appreciate all your efforts very much :agree: without you we have nothing.

And yes, good for brian to put his foot down. See? He knows his student. I bet if yuzu was in japan he might have gone anyway...

PIW 2014 was a treat. Exhibit A:
https://twitter.com/0309_miumiu/status/465066519739650048

"Earlier when the fans were taking pictures of Tatsuki, Yuzuru suddenly came next to him, interrupting.
Tatsuki told him "My fans are taking pictures of me right now." in a what-are-you-doing kind of way
"After that Yuzuru kept talking to him and they looked charming together"

Exhibit B: constant bromance

I remember Google translate or whatever translator once translated keiji's name into 'criminal'😂

This made me laugh. Keiji is probably the least likely criminal! After all, he's Shoma's dad! :biggrin:I'm sure it will be very interesting when I finally start learning kanji.

Thank you so much for the info! :thank: And I agree with Liv – your English is very good indeed!

I was very glad to learn that Yuzuru can have his asthma controlled with medications!

And it was very interesting to know about the Requiem program! I felt some sadness as I was watching it, but didn’t know the specifics. Because of the title, I thought maybe he was portraying a spirit watching the state of affairs on earth. I’m very glad to know the real content now and the history of Yuzuru performing it. He is a sensitive and very sympathetic person.

It’s also so very nice of him to donate all his profits from his autobiography to his rink! I wonder why is it called Blue Flame? And since it’s Blue Flame 2, had he written one before?

Reg. the yellow press, it's sad that people who contribute the most to the world culture get treated like that, but I'm sure Yuzuru knows many more trustworthy people: his skating friends, his coaching team, his many loyal fans.

The first autobiography Blue Flame (‘Aoi Honō’), published in April 2012 when he was 17 years old. All royalties from that first book also donated to Ice Rink Sendai. It has sold over 150,000 copies.

Per the editor of the book Kaori Okubo, “The title “Aoi Honoo” (Blue flames) was decided after we chose the cover photo for the book. We thought of it as we looked at the photo. The blue gradient rising from the costume resembles a blue flame. It also symbolises Hanyu’s calmness and his burning fighting spirit. “ - shared by @Yuzuland tumblr. Cover photos of both books .
