Anna DUŠKOVÁ and Radek JAKUBKA are Pairs skaters who represent the Czech Republic.

Anna Dušková was born on 30[SUP]th[/SUP] December 1999 in Nymburk, Central Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Radek Jakubka was born on 10[SUP]th[/SUP] October 2000 in Ústí nad Labem, North Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Anna was the 2016 Junior World Champion with former partner Martin Bidař. Radek was the 2016 Four Nationals Advanced Novice Champion with former partner Edita Horňáková.

This is going to be a slightly different Fan Fest. There is already a post about Anna’s Singles career in the thread for her former partnership with Martin Bidař. So, rather than repeat everything here, the additional OP’s in this thread will focus on Radek.

Consequently, rather than having just one “Original Post”, this Fan Fest has three!

The first post (this one) is for the current Pairs partnership.
The second post is for Radek’s former partnership with Edita Horňáková.
The third post is for Radek as a Singles skater.

Czech media confirmed: Anna will skate with Radek Jakubka (he split with Edita Hornakova to skate with Anna); Martin is still looking for a new partner. Teaming up with Nika is too complicated (the only reason is that they can not skate together next season)

Thanks for the update.

Just to let you know, I have temporarily moved the posts about Anna and Martin's Singles careers out into new threads. This is so that they can act as placeholders until we have enough info to be able to post about the new partnerships without any doubt.

They will be moved back into this thread whenever we know for definite what is going on.

That’s the weird thing. She competed internationally more than a year ago, so it is not ISU who would prevent her compete for another country. However, as any skater who wants to change country, she would also need to be released by her skating federation. So if there are any problems that she can’t skate in this coming season, the only reason why not is that Russian skating federation is refusing to release her at the moment. In the past Russia held some skaters for far too long, e.g, Iliuschetchkina was held for four years, but since then there have been many skaters released quite quickly, so I am not sure why would they want to insist on keeping Osipova. And a few days ago the federation was ‘celebrating’ this new partnership, and suddenly just a week later they are calling it too complicated. When Osipova and Bidar got together, surely they must have noticed that she is not Czech and therefore would need to be released, so what’s the huge surprise now? And if Bidar wants to train abroad, does he hope to find there a Czech girl, or will he find another girl who needs to be released?

That means the whole season gone. If she is lucky, she will manage to get back her competitive readiness by worlds and manage to attend worlds, if they are sent to. But considering that they are a new pair, even if she got her stamina back, it would take time to work on their pairs elements so it is unlikely that they would be ready. It’s a very bad timing to be injured while in a new partnership.

Worlds are 18.3. - 24.3.
I think Czech Fed posted that performace of new pair at test skate (in August/September) or 4 Champ (in December) is required for nomination at EC or WC. WC is in Japan - huge travel expences. Czech Fed didn't nominate the weaker athletes in such cases. I think it will mean skipping the whole season. They are new pair - they must unite and so on.

They'd also need the mininum scores to compete a Worlds.

Yesterday there was a short reportage about Anna in Czech TV News. There she said her recovery will probably last till the end of the year.

Radek Jakubka, new partner for Anna, skated today in Czech Skate in Ostrava in singles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDx5V7g3Cg4

That was his Free Skate. Here is his Short Programme:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iw4B07hGqk

And as he finishes, you can see Anna throwing an Eeyore onto the ice!

Anna posted the clip onto her Instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BoR9pEngfC0/

Then, yesterday, she posted a photo of them posing on the podium:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BoWos12gBUi/

And the caption is good news!

I’m so happy because in 6 weeks I’ll be able to go on the ice and skate again after so long!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

In between these, she posted a screenshot from the livestream, which shows her amongst a group of supporters at the end of Michaela Lucie Hanzlíková's FS, just after they've thrown a giant unicorn to her:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BoT7WF7gYbM/

So, now that things seem to be falling into place for both Anna and Martin, I will start work tomorrow on the Original Posts for their new partnerships' threads. (Which in turn will mean I can finally get their Singles OP's back into this thread! And move some of the posts from this thread into the new threads...)

But first, I kinda need to finish watching the Czech Skate Ladies FS! (Currently at the second resurfacing).

I must add that Radek's placement is the best from Czech competing men. He has beaten also Matyas Belohradsky. Also in some interviews, he said that this is probably his last competition in singles.

It was really nice that all Czech skaters were cheering for each other.

So they are going to change it??

No one knows, they always add everyone on the list then choose the best one in her/his first JGP.

But now I checked the nominations and he was nominated in August, but he did not participate in Test skate (due to injury). Also, it is not easy to compete for two weeks in a row. At least, the first competition was not so far from Prague.
