It's only a two-hour flight from Osaka to Seoul ans there's no time difference, so I think he'll come next Monday (official practice starts on Tuesday). I bought an otter plushie and wrote a letter in mediocre Japanese for him

Glad to know going to Seoul will be straightforward for him, but before that he is competing at the National Winter Sports Festival (aka Kokutai) :biggrin:

The SP is tomorrow (30/01) at 3:45 PM local time and the FS is on Friday at 12:35pm

As far as I understand, skaters are paired in teams by Prefecture. Kazuki and Mitsuki Sumoto are competing for Osaka.
Sadly, team Osaka got the short end of the draw and they are both skating in the first group :laugh:

So, last year Kazuki posted an IG story in which he was holding a paper bag with an otter plushie inside it, and an arrow saying 'What is this?'. Immediately Japanese fans picked up on it and started to associate him with otters, both drawing fan arts and posting pictures of Kazuki and otters side-by-side. I guess otters are cute and funny, just like him :biggrin:

So... I'm afraid the three quad layout didn't work out for Kazuki, he ended up popping two of the three quads and made some other mistakes :drama:

He was still 1st, and Mitsuki was 3rd, meaning Osaka won the event!

Oh well. I know this is probably not the experience he wanted just going into 4CC, but OTOH if he wanted to try, it's better now than then...
But it seems to me he's not quite ready for a 3-quad FS just yet, so hopefully he won't attempt anything crazy at 4CC, and wait until the off-season so he can practice this new layout properly :pray:

He said in an interview that including the 3rd quad was a lot more difficult than he thought. But he wants to do 3, or maybe even 4 quads next season in the FS, depending on the 4lo :drama:

aah, Kazuki seems to have shaved his hair again at the temples? The goofy photos with Mitsuki certainly look like it. Mitsuki OTOH, seems to be growing his back, good boy.
And good to see Ryuju again in the group photo, although I have no idea if he actually participated in the kokutai or not. He's one of the guys who a small beard looks good on, lol.

I live in Seoul :laugh:

the rink is an hour and 20 minutes via subway (and about 30-40 minutes by car, but I don't have a car so...) though. As I'm planning on quitting my most time-consuming job on Monday (wish me luck) I'm planning on attending much practice as possible, Tuesdays I have to go tutoring so I'm not sure but I'm definitely going to be at the rink all day starting from Wednesday. I'll report Kazuki sightings as much as possible here :biggrin:

I wasn't able to clear my schedule for Tuesday so I wasn't there, but as I finally quit :hap57: the English academy gig I'll be there tomorrow and flood the thread :biggrin:

That 4Lo is something, like, it's fully rotated!! He first needs to not pop his existing quads :drama:

but he's showing how he has grown. :luv17:

ooh, I look forward to what he puts forth in competition! Kirara, I wouldn't worry about popping jumps in practice - practices tend to be very different from the actual competition. The 3A sanrenzoku (sorry, I keep forgetting the English term - "3 jump combo"?) is a powerful weapon in itself, if he lands it clean!
If his 4Lo is competition ready by the start of next season, I hope Kazuki is treated as a real challenger for the Nationals podium, and gets no more stingy PCS.
I'm ready for the reports :popcorn:

You guys have seen photos and jump reports so I’ll add something I think has not been mentioned yet.
Kazuki fell while landing a jump and ended lying down on the ice laughing. The Korean fans next to me, who up to this point were more focused on taking photos of the Korean skaters, were muttering “귀여워” (cute) and proceed to take some photos. My phone battery was dying at that point so I couldn’t get a photo. Hopefully those girls will share it some time!
