First place!

Congrats Kazuki!

Kazuki struggled with his quads but his choreo really improved.

He said he was disappointed with his performance but really happy to skate after Daisuke Takahashi who is his idol.

Oh how wonderful!!! Heaps of congrats to Kazuki!!! :hap57:

Hooray for winning regionals! Looking at the protocols, I'm impressed with the PCS considering his struggles with the jumps.

Actually the commentators said Kazuki’s steps were reminiscent of Daisuke ‘s who skated right before... that is a compliment!!

It certainly is! I am glad he was able to still skate the choreography well in spite of the jump problems :)

Big congrats to Kazuki on winning regionals! I hope this was a considerable confidence boost for him before he enters the GP season. Well-done to Kazuki, and with some more practice and calmed-down nerves, we may see two gems of programs soon.

Congrats to Kazuki, this was surely a good experience performing for a big number audiences (compared to the other competitions he had till now) and of course to compete with Dai.

Hopefully he can get fully ready and have more satisfying performances with the start of GP series

Thanks for the links! I do think his choreo and interpretation were better than at Lombardia. Also, he landed his new 3Aeu3S combo! :yahoo:

Kazuki really does seem to be more confident during his choreo/steps! I’m really looking forward to Skate Canada.

There was Kansai local special on Kinki Regionals, it featured Daisuke but also had clips on the winners from each category.

In interview Kazuki says that, in spite of doing well at Worlds, he realized the standards of world top skaters were very high and he is nowhere near at this point,; however he feels it is important for younger skaters like himself should compete at highest level, so he aims to medal at every event this season and looks towards the next Olympics.

Thank you for the summary, Sayaka! I hope Kazuki tackles his goals little by little. This is a crucial season for him, and in a way I'm glad that Keiji medalled in his Challenger while Kazuki did not - because the pressure on him if he was the undisputed #3 would do nothing for his mental comfort. It's better this way. :] He's done enough for his goals this season when he added new jumps and combinations, now he needs to go clean and keep himself healthy, and all will be well. Ideally, if both Kazuki and Keiji go clean in their GPs (I can dream, right? ;) ), we'd be in for a battle royale for the All Japan Championships bronze. So looking forward to that.

I think that the 3rd spot battle at JNats will be very interesting, with Dai in the mix as well and even Sota might be a dark horse if he continues to recover his jumps. I wish all of them the best of luck, and may the best man win! (Although in my heart of course I'll be cheering for Kazuki)

Kazuki participated in an event to celebrate the reopening of Rinkai Sports Center, with an ice rink used by Kansai skaters and home rink to Mitsuji Sumoto. It was in danger of shutdown but Daisuke Takahashi and other skaters did fundraising and the rink was renovated. The event was attended by Daisuke, Keiji Tanaka, Murakami, Kazuki among others. Kazuki skated New Cinema Paradise and Riverdance.
