Hi everyone! I became a Kazuki fan this season during NHK trophy (but I have seen him in the previous season in the Junior Grand Prix). I find him very charismatic and having a lot of power in his performance, just like a mini-Daisuke Takahashi! I so look forward to him next season, hope he will bring even more exciting programs!

Very interesting interview with Kazuki for Sportsnavi. Thank you to yuuki for the quick translation.

Second installment of the Kazuki, Shu, Taichi interview for Doshisha Sports Atom and Kanspo.
    http://doshisha-atom.net/web/result.php?no=2163

In his Doshisha University Figure Skating Club profile, Kazuki's objective for next season is to approach each competition carefully/with importance and to medal at all of his competitions.
    http://dfsc.sakura.ne.jp/dfsc/club_buin.html
Atta boy~ A strong competitor sets high standards and goals for himself.
Should be noted, this had also been his goal in 2016-2017, his last season as a Junior. During that season, out of the ten+ competitions he participated in, he failed to medal in only three.
(4th at JGP Yokohama, 5th at Nationals, 9th at Junior Worlds where he was still possibly nursing a hip injury)

And for anyone who may have not yet seen Misha's instagram post about working with Kazuki and his team. (Photo in 2nd frame! ) Kazuki plans to debut his new SP at DOI.

A day late, but Happy 20th Birthday to Kazuki! Wishing for his continued happiness, growth and success.

    EDIT:
The May 12 episode of Figure Skate TV! began with a report on the Kyoto Figure Skate Festival. Kazuki's full SP performance, a clip of his encore and interview from this event was shown.
Other segments cover Team Japan figure skater health checks (including Kazuki) and Ice Dance tryouts with some training by Kana and Chris.
I found this FSTV! episode to be particularly interesting and highly recommend it to other fans of Team Japan.

Thanks for sharing! And belated Happy Birthday to Kazuki, hopefully many good things are awaiting him in the new season! I'm curious to see what Misha does with Kazuki's programs, as they were already spot on last season to my eyes. I liked the glimpses of media exchanges between these two, they seem to get along so well. Also, for some reason I expected Kazuki's English to be meagre but it apparently isn't. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Just curious how far you think Tomono can go? Future world champion? Consistent world medalist? Or do you think he will always be sort of a second tier guy?

Kazuki has a good charisma about him, and is a good natural performer. He has charm. I am not entirely convinced about his jumping talent, I'd like to see them cleaner. While I'd like to observe him more closely over the next season, I did take the time to look at him when he was announced as part of JPN's worlds roster, and he convinced me about his quality quite quickly. I think he can develop into a good skater, and I hope he goes for 2022 with full force. I thought he should have been WSM this year, so his prospects aren't bad at all IMO, but next season will be more telling, with the full roster of top skaters skating less tiredly, in a non-Olympic season.

Wow, LOVE the Daft Punk EX! Kazuki is definitely not resting on his laurels. That's a very unique and intricate program

It's always hard to predict future success. Sometimes a skater that seems like a shoo-in for many golds can falter due to nerves and injuries, sometimes a not-so-promising skater can have a skate of the lifetime at the right moment or perservere thanks to hard work.
Early in the previous season I'd say Kazuki has a hard road ahead of him, as his jumps were rather delicate-looking and he lacked a consistent quad. However, he seems to be improving with every month; not only his 4S and 3A seem very solid now, but he hasn't neglected his skating skills and performance ability at all. If Misha's Instagram entry is any indication, Kazuki seems like a hard worker eager to improve as a skater, and that's a very good sign.
At the moment, challenging quadsters like Nathan, Boyang, Shoma or Yuzuru, might seem impossible, but who knows? If even tiny Shoma managed to build up enough muscles to manage 4T/4F, perhaps with proper training Kazuki will be able to up his arsenal as well. I just hope his team won't rush things and will put his health first.

Here to post some links and updates.

Clip of Kazuki's 4T posted to his instagram story. Looking good!

Short feature aired on the June 9th episode of Figure Skate TV! showing Misha working with Kazuki on his new SP. The clip previously linked above by khtmyzr () is an edit of this segment.
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6lgo8c

3rd and 4th (final) installments of Kazuki, Shu, Taichi interview for Doshisha Sports Atom and Kanspo.
    Part 3 http://kanspo.univ.nikkansports.com/?p=24951
    Part 4 http://doshisha-atom.net/web/result.php?no=2164

English translated interview with Kazuki from Figure Skating Life magazine. As always, much appreciation to the translator for sharing!
    https://tomonokazuki.tumblr.com/post...e-skating-life

Maybe even more than the new SP, I'm really interested to see Misha's influence on Kazuki's skating skills. Two seasons ago, I was unnecessarily nagging (to mostly myself ) for Kazuki's team to get him a jump coach and also work on his lack of control and flow to help improve the quality and consistency of his jumps. He and his team have obviously worked very hard addressing many of his technical issues resulting in his considerable improvement.
For next season, I'm sure they will be focusing a lot on his step sequence levels and on increasing his PCS. IMO, Misha is a good choice to assist in these areas.
I personally really enjoy Misao Sato's choreography for Kazuki so hoping she's creating his new FS. Also hoping for video of her working with him again since she's such an amusing character!

I also want to mention how happy I am that Kazuki and Sota are able to skate together again. (especially with Kazuki's other close skating buddies Koshiro still training in Switzerland and Taichi relocating to the U.S.)
I still remember Kazuki's tweet for Sota's birthday last year, wishing for Sota to heal well and return to skating so they could compete again, grow stronger together and have fun.
    https://twitter.com/naniwatomono/sta...74483245674497
Fans have reported that in the opening of Heroes and Future in Nagano, Kazuki and Sota are introduced together and do sbs jumps. Excited for broadcast!

One last link I want to share today~
I was extremely pleased to see a high quality video of Kazuki's Japan Nationals 2015 FS recently uploaded to youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMIG2NKdecQ&t
This is currently one of favorite performances by Kazuki and really reinforces the reason I became a fan. After many jump errors and an invalid spin, I was so impressed by his determination to deliver a spirited and engaging Chsq toward the end of his program. The highest GOE he was awarded in this performance was for his Chsq. Unfortunately, since he competed as a Junior that season, I believe Nationals was the only competition where he performed this element.

I quite like this costume, is it for his new SP? I recall Misha mentioned Kazuki will debut the program at Dreams on Ice which is today.

@KiraraChin According to this, the music is “It’s Magic”

What do you guys think? I'm having mixed feelings... Nothing wrong with the coreo itself, but not sure if it suits Kazuki? It's too low key for him?
