Dedicated channels are fine if there are not multiple things on at the same time. I don't have Sky Sports, so I can't speak from personal experience. But I have been reading posts on the Digital Spy forum, and people have been complaining that since the new dedicated channels replaced the general sport channels, a whole pile of matches have been put onto a red-button service. And, as I said in an earlier comment, that means they can't be recorded.

With all the football rights that Sky Sports has, having a channel dedicated to the Premier League and a channel for all their other football was never going to work. They needed at least 2 general football channels.

Yes, they've had problems with football, world cup qualifiers with more than 1 home nation on at the same time. They had to e.g. have Scotland on Main, Wales on Football and Northern Ireland highlights only/red button or something like that. Was actually being a bit facetious with the Cycling idea but maybe a grain of truth. One extra channel would solve a lot of the problems. Perhaps they'll reconsider how they want to do things going forward when it comes to the Olympics, but then again maybe not.

Oh, I got a reply the other day. It was a standard message but it said that my complaint would be forwarded, that's what I asked for. Not that I think that something is actually going to happen. I just had the time and I felt the need to let them know why I won't buy a monthly pass. I think they should know that they lose potential customers with their mediocre figure skating coverage.

I can't remember if I got a automatic reply back then, it's been a few years. If not, it's a step in the right direction and maybe people should write to them now.

Looks like both the E2 stream and the livestream were already made available as archived streams like seconds after the Men's SP finished airing!

I got an automatic reply and a standard message a couple of hours later signed by a real person. ;)

I'd like to add that this year, one can also subscribe to the 'eurosport channel' as it's part of the amazon prime channels. The downside to this is, that apparently you don't get access to the archived streams! :disagree: Now I know it's better to just subscribe to the regular eurosport player ...

It didn't take long for Eurosport to pull one of their stunts: the Men's SP rerun just started half an hour late.
I'm also not hearing any commentary... not sure if there is any?

I guess there was commentary after all, but only British, not Dutch.

Anyway, China GP all FS, no Ice Dance FD. Possibly because it starts too early?
Does anyone know how to access the co uk schedule two weeks in advance? I woukd really like to know what’s being shown there that weekend!

Strange. I wonder why that was.

Normally if something is being shown on Eurosport International, they would have commentary for ALL the languages, regardless of whether all those countries were actually showing it.

Probably. Unless the commentators are actually on site, Eurosport never shows LIVE coverage of anything being held in what is the middle of the night in Europe.

Even snooker. They only show the afternoon and evening sessions from Chinese tournaments on the linear channels. For the morning sessions we only get the World Feed on the Eurosport Player.

http://www.eurosport.co.uk/tvschedule.shtml is currently only going up to Thursday 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] November. So, I don't know.

By the way, did you guys see the re-jigged version of the table that I use as a placeholder for the schedule posts? If not, here it is:

The Danish Eurosport website is currently re-directing to the Eurosport Player website, so that is why that box is empty.

But if anybody can help fill in any other gaps, or point out corrections, please let me know.

CoC coverage is too good to be true. So, I guess that just confirms that the horrible Skate Canada coverage is because of the time difference (middle of the night in Europe). *sigh* Well, at least we have the Monday recap.

By the way, all the CoR programs are archived in the German player, also the ones without commentary. That's a plus point! :p

They are, it just takes longer I think. I'm on a free trial with Amazon (honestly, I prefer it through Amazon because then I can watch in HD on my television so easily), but the mens short is here. But I am waiting for Ladies and Ice Dance and if they're not uploaded :drama::drama::drama:

Yep, that's what I love about the new version of the Player, that everything on the additional streams get archived. :cheer:   :party2: :points:

And to make things even easier, the archived videos use the same address that was used when they were streamed. (That is why I am bothering to put in the links in the competition threads).

On the other hand, unlike other parts of the Eurosport Player website, the same archived video does not have the same basic address on each version of the Eurosport Player. They have different addresses on each Player. And, hence, they do not automatically re-direct to the same video on the clicker's version of the Player. The result is that the links I post only work if you are using the British Eurosport Player. :disapp:

This is something they really need to sort out, along with the frankly chaotic archiving of things that were shown on the linear channels.

I had set my television set top whatchacallit thingy to Dutch commentary, and there just wasn't any. I'm used to it on the streams, but not on "real" television anymore. I guess they figured the commentators didn't have anything to add anymore. ;-) I haven't checked if the British commentary was "new", I mean different from the live Men's SP.

Okay. I was kind of hoping I was using a wrong website or something, because the other ones all go two weeks into the future. I'm just being nosy, but with fairly good reason, as I will be in the UK at the time.

Yes. Let's hope next year Skate America goes back to being at the start of the season. That way if we're going to get something clashing with the tail end of summer sports it's better that it's something that we're not going to see so much of anyway. Coverage of CoR has been dire really, we ubers can find ways of watching it no problem, but for casual fans it's just been a disaster.

A little OT, but still ES-related: Is the ES-Player stream stable for you? It plays for about ten minutes for me and then suddenly breaks. It then takes 10-20 seconds until I can reload the website again. Does anyone else have this problem?

A couple of somewhat interesting things just now in the Ladies FS, Dutch commentary:

1. apparently there'll be a Men's FS recap tomorrow before the gala recap, both in the early evening. I cannot find either listed, though, so not a clue what that's about. But since it's Eurosport, I wouldn't be surprised if something does get aired without proper listings.

2. remember that news a little while ago about the idea floating around at the ISU to split figure skating into two different competitions, technical and artistic, or perhaps even three, with all-round? Well. The Dutch commentator Jeroen Prins said, and I quote/translate, "If indeed, if my idea, which I launched at the ISU, will ever become reality, the idea of a technical program and an artistic or creative program, then Kostner is the world champion in the artistic part." etc.

I'm... kind of hoping that doesn't mean what it sounded like. Although in a sad sort of way, it would make sense, seeing as the Netherlands don't have much of, well, anything when it comes to good jumping figure skaters. <--- I think we had some very good skaters back in the 1960s. Y'know, back when they didn't really do quads yet. You see where I'm going with this?

They said something about the men's in the german broadcast as well, but there is no broadcast as far as I can see. Weird.
