ok... i feel i need to say something... if Joseph is reaching to the world, saying how bad his skate was....

well, maybe the world can reach to him and let him know how much we love him, his skating, his gorgeous jumps, his spectacular spins, his deep edges, his speed, his smooth skating...

Joseph : to me, you are the best !!! no matter how you skated today, take it as a learning experience... you need to learn how to remain in the moment, not think about anything else but executing your program... the way you have trained it. Great champions learn how to phase out the mistakes and focus on the next element to come.

You have about 10 more years of skating ahead of you : be patient. You cannot win it all in one day. Take the time to learn how to love yourself, not just when you have a great performance but also when you have a difficult time. Believe in you work. Work is the key. Work brings the confidence.

Get a sports psychologist... taking care of your feelings is just as important as taking care of your body.

LOVE YOU Jo!

As I've already said on the Canadian fs thread, whatever Joseph's placement is at JGP Ostrava, I sincerely hope that he's happy with his performances. I've witnessed first hand what he's like when he's upset, and while I understand that all athletes want to succeed and win medals, I think he may be putting too much pressure on himself this season. What's more important to me is that he regains the delight in his skating and the more easygoing attitude in his personality that I saw last year. :)

I'm late to the party because of work, but I'm really happy that he won a bronze medal and that he scored a whopping 34.58 points higher for the free skate than at his last JGP event! :gclap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW4LHH4AaSE

For me, this competition was a huge improvement from my other JGP in Lithuania, which was such a disaster , and I’m so proud. I’ve got to say, moving to another city and changing coaches definitely was hard and took a toll on me, I’m starting to feel better now, but I know it’s for the best so I will be thankful and will appreciate every opportunity I will be given, so thanks @skate_canada for the opportunity and #teamcricket for your love and support. ❤️

For the second time, Jo is the recipient of the Petro-Canada FACE grant (the first was in 2016):

Hi SnowWhite, you're going to have change several URLs in the first post because my main Vimeo account was deleted in July after the site changed its policy so that free accounts have a storage limit of a measly 5 GB. :gaah: Since mine had already reached 50 GB at that point, I lost about 200 videos in one fell swoop. :bang: I've re-uploaded Joseph's performances, so when you have the time, please correct the dead links.

Since we probably won't get any news for a while, I thought I'd share CBC's coverage of Joseph's 2018 Junior Worlds LP (which doesn't seem to be available on YouTube), in case some of you who live outside of Canada were interested in hearing the commentary: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vihvm

It's not in HD, but it's better than nothing. His SP wasn't broadcast on Canadian television.

My vids of Joseph's performances from the SC Challenge are 3 weeks late, but better late than never. (I have the best---and worst---excuse ever; if you haven't already heard about my life-threatening incident, you can read about it here: https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?72200-2018-19-Canadian-figure-skating&p=2266347&viewfull=1#post2266347 )

LP: https://streamable.com/qdzt7

Considering that he was last year's SC Challenge champion, this competition must have been a huge disappointment for him, and I almost wanted to cry during the livestream. Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but maybe returning to Yvan Desjardins isn't such a bad idea...

I recently found a 2-minute interview that Jo did as part of the FACE summit: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6zbwye The microphone doesn't seem to be working properly because I have a bit of trouble hearing what he's saying.

He will skate in the 2nd group for the SP at Nationals: https://lamp.skatecanada.ca/results/2019cdn/2019CDNSSeniorMenSP1SO.pdf

Great job Joseph :yahoo: Much better than the beginning of the season! Does this mean he gets the 2nd spot for JrWorlds?
