40 competitors! Wow. Will there be a cut-off after the short program?
The amount of time allocated to Ladies FS in the preliminary schedule suggests "no":

16:40 - 23:40 = 7 hours = 420 minutes

There are 6 groups according to practice schedule, so six warmups (6 x 6mins = 36 mins) and 2 ice resurfaces (Each ice resurface takes 10 minutes according to the schedule)
420 - 36 - 20 = 364 minutes left for the skating/judging

364 minutes / 40 skaters = just over 9mins per skater...

...and 9 minutes should be plenty of time for each skater to perform FS, and judges to score it?

If there are actually 7 groups (6 seems a bit odd), then there should still be plenty of time, at least 8mins 42secs per skater?

Actually, I didn't think they ever used cut-offs after the SP's at Challenger/SeniorB competitions? Has it happened in the past?

Bless the judges. 7 hours is NOT easy, even with resurfacings.

Caro, Liza (a treat for Caroliza fan), Alina, and Wakaba - they look like main podium contenders. And one will be out, who, I wonder?

Caro will have a good pcs margin over everyone else. The question is about her jumps.

Liza showed last weekend that she is in a very good shape. But her pcs will hardly be at her peak 2015 level: 34 and 66. Even though I think she skates better now. I would say with the same quality she showed in Sochi her pcs will be about 32 and 64 and the total score will be around 205.

A big moment for Alina. Her senior debut with Marin and Kaori debuting in the States. So, there will be also indirect competition. Her JW pcs were 29 and 62. If she skates clean she may add a little bit to that, say, 30 and 63. It will be much lower than Caro's and lower, I guess, than clean Liza. But with her BV that became even crazier she should win over both of them. Can she deliver?

Wakaba, if clean, will have pcs about the same as clean Zagitova, lower than Caro and Liza. Again she has been so far more like a tech lady although I understand she has a very big support group here who think her pcs should be higher.

My forecast is Zagitova, Liza, Caro or Wakaba but a lot will depend on their ability to deliver early in the season. I saw that Zagitova is well prepared, hence, I would not expect a total meltdown from her but scenarios like Caro, Alina, Liza and even Wakaba, Liza, Caro are also possible although unlikely.

Oh, I think that no one stands a chance against Alya  She's improved even more since last season, I feel, and I think she really worked on her artistry and lines this summer

This will be exciting! Almost like a mini world championships for olympic hopefuls. I guess federations want to determine the one skater who will have the biggest chance to get an olympic spot from Nebelhorn. Good for skating fans. Hope that we can see many videos from Lombardia Trophy!

Caro in group 3, Liza in group 4, Wakaba and Laurine in group 5 and Alina in group 6. This looks almost like deliberate planning to keep the SP interesting.

Does Lombardia Trophy usually get this many skaters, or it is just this year? 40 a senior B event sounds a lot.
