Kostner's plan for the Lutz in 2018?

You know, Kostner's six triples program without 3lz and 3-3 is not so bad. In 2010-2011 it was worse. Only 3 types of triples: 3T; 3S; 3lo

I think Kostner's 6 triple program without a 3lz is pretty underwhelming technically especially if you compare it to yuna kim's 6 triple programs with 2 triple lutzes(and a glorious triple/triple).

But, the current 2 time world champion also doesn't have a real 3lz so I find it difficult to criticize Kostner's technical arsenal too harshly...

I'm sorry but a skater who can't do the triple lutz should not get near a Olympic podium this is still an athletic sport. It's almost 2018 not 1978.

So why is Evgenia Medvedeva so successful & considered the main favourite for the Olympic Gold?*

*it definitely helps that they deliberately (I stopped believing that it's otherwise) overlook her flutz. She earns like 3-4+ undeserved points on her TES alone usually (considering the fact that many other skaters receive flat-out e call with mandatory reduction of BV for similar lutz and deduction from initial GOE) for that sometimes even when violation is less severe.

She received 8.00 points for her triple ''lutz'' in WTT LP. Appaling. Meanwhile Zijun Li gets hammered everytime if she makes similar mistake but she's not Russian and not the anointed one so she's punished.

What happened to Alina and Masha and Elena?
Also are Japan and the US not participating? Lol

Well, Lutz on the podium they said, i picked my two favorites in senior.
Maybe we should also put Wakaba into the mix, her Lz is pretty good too.

Masha and Elena, nah, their jumps arent really... And Alina - well, dunno, her LUtz just not a gold medal material.

The thing is not only she has 6 triples instead of 7 and no 3-3, but there aren't also many transitions in and out especially compared to Medvedeva are on two different levels.

If Kostner wins olympics with that program, maybe girls will not try 3A, quad and hard 3-3 anymore.

They will have to fall back on skating skills and performance and interpretation. Pad your butts girls, they will not catch you.

I don't think that will happen. I believe that every woman OGMist since 2006 has been the skater with the highest TES score over both programs. Baiul was probably the last one who didn't execute the most difficult programs. The Olympics are about athleticism, and I think we'll see several skaters in the mix for medals and closer PCS scores for the top contenders.

Do you guys see anyone besides Evgenia winning? Unless she's not there at all, it's hers to lose. And there's a bunch of other girls hungry for medals, we just haven't seen all of them competing together. If Carolina goes clean, which I do think she will, she has her chance. But if Alina, Wakaba, Mai and Kaetlyn skate like they have been doing, I don't see how at least one, two or all of them can't score over Carolina.

This is just getting bizarre. Carolina is capitalizing on the points she can get for now. Her level of quality and movement and musical integrity is extraordinary. In Sochi she proved her desire to up the ante, as an athlete competing in the Olympic Games. Her history has proven success when she adds difficulty over time. She knows her self and her process. And now all those ridiculous comments about doubt of Medvedeva's ability. One rough outing and it's doomsday. So absurd. Both skaters obviously have guts and clarity of their abilities. Rough days happen to all athletes, they are doing crazy stuff guys! thank god they don't go all dramatic and fearful like so many on the internet. They are both amazing. They both are clearly working incredibly hard. What blows my mind is how Medvedeva was not called edge on her triple lutz. She has clearly worked hard to make it a real lutz but relies on marginal and therefor too grey to call an edge. Remember the agony Joannie went through trying to fix the lutz? (Successfully) I admire her very much. But at NHK she clearly took off of an inside edge on her lutz. And it wasn't called. That's the drama here. What is it that is held over the heads of the specialists that they couldn't over the years when it was a serious question did they not call it? Bravo to when it was clearly grey, that's only fair to any skater. But NHK it was clearly inside when she was 'surviving'
The technical panel in Sochi turned a blind eye to rules of ice coverage on the step and choreography sequences. (Review Sotnikiva dimensions of both sequences in Sochi. 😳) So what games will be played not just in ladies, but in all events? Grand Prix lulls into thinking it's all ok. We ain't seen nothin yet. The treachery will reveal itself very soon. I'm certifiably NOT paranoid😂😂. But I've watched enough of skating to know it's just a game of To many higher ups. God bless those that believe right will prevail. In skating, where has right prevailed?

Well, skating gods and judges has always been with Kostner during last years. She's always the exception.

In a way it is true where basic bladework, glide and ease of speed changes and turns are concerned. None of the present active ladies have basic SS that can match. Of course that should also not be the reason to overscore PCS when she messes up, although the same principle should apply to every skater.

Let's say Skating God has blessed Kostner with perfect technique, skating skill, artistry, and longevity, even the love of the judges,
God does take something back though, consistency... it's like a curse to her.
