And again "Alyona" is more correct, at least "Aliona". It's the exact same name that Aliona Savchenko bears.

There is funny episode from old movie where guy is trying to call his girlfriend with magic wand, her name is Alyona but the wand gave him other "kinds of Alyona" https://youtu.be/Aml6jZ3RpU8?t=100.

Well, if Alena is pronounced as "Alyona" - okay, but that doesn't mean it should be written like this. I use information from Russian base of figure skaters: fskate.ru. Here you can see the result. There is exact the same name: Alena Kanysheva. Also, other Alena - Kostornaya, on ISUBio is written as Alena. Don't know why they use IA in the ending of her surname, because on the fskate she is Alena Kostornaya.

This name is easier to write, and to me it seems more beautiful than Aliona, Alyona or whatever.

Transliterating the Russian 'ё' as 'e' in this name is confusing, because English speakers usually pronounce it as Alina, which is a different name.

Just for your information, Alena is pronounced as Alyona. Same concerns Alena Leonova and Alena Kostornaia.

Maybe we should spell it "Alëna". :)

Yes, it is on all Russian keyboards.
But the second ë is Latin, not Cyrillic. I found it by "e umlaut".

She was very good - Might be the strongest of her age group, perhaps? A bit early to say, of course. Looking forward to seeing what exactly happens during the next season's JGP, in any case.

And at least my keyboard has the ¨ umlaut key, which allows me to create ë.

Yeah, her skating skills are already pretty nice, and I guess she'll be only progressing in that. Now I hope she will work harder on her artistry and face expressions. Hope that at Junior Nationals she will show her very best. And then, we can convene a secret council, where you, tars and me will think about getting her a 4th star. [emoji848]

You are a real wizard! 😮

Well, I rewatched about five times already her stsq's part. Very enjoyble to watch, especially because it suited with beautiful music. She's like a barbie, but without a soul, I hope she will find it one day. Fire is also missing in her skating. But her potential if she will add more speed and will get some fire (not to mention a soul) - is going to be awesome.

Honestly, I don't like her FS program. Ugly dress and horrible music maybe are part of the reason. Nevertheless, she is strong skater, of course.

Hmm, I find her dress pretty cute and in the old style. What about music... You should watch Akatieva's SP or one of previous Leonova's free programs... Such a garbage... My ears start bleeding when I hear that. So at this background, Alenka's FP music is quite nice!

What a superstar... :dbana:

Despite some issues in her skating, it's hard don't forget, that she's only 12 yo. But her skating skills are already very nice. Hope she will be only progressing.
