Camden Pulkinen is a men's skater who represents the United States. He was born on 25 March 2000 in Scottsdale, AZ, and trains in Colorado Springs, CO, with Tom Zakrajsek and Becky Calvin. Drew Meekins is an assistant coach on his team and Karen Gesell is his former coach. He is currently choreographed by Tom Dickson and Drew Meekins. He started skating in 2005 because he thought it looked like fun. He currently represents the Broadmoor Skating Club. Thanks for making a Camden thread! I was wondering if he had one or not. I found a few links for some of his programs:

That was what I could find on youtube. Best of luck to him at the JGPF! :hap10:

Good luck at the JGPF. :yay:

Although Tom Z is head coach, are you sure that Becky Calvin is "former" coach???

Some skaters (Max Aaron and Paige Rydberg, for example) work with both Tom (as head coach) and Becky.
Both Tom and Becky were with Camden at the Philadelphia International.

[I think it is possible that Camden still gets some coaching from Drew Meekins too??? Although I don't know whether Drew is considered (in terms of Camden specifically) as playing a coaching role equal to Tom's and/or Becky's.]

IIRC, Camden has competed in all three years of the Aerial Challenge.

I mention it b/c IIRC, his good results at the first year of Aerial Challenge are what led USFS to encourage Camden to move up from Novice to Junior earlier than he had planned.

Okay, I'll fix that. His ISU bio did list Calvin as former coach and Tom Z as the sole coach so that's what I went on.

Thx for pointing out what the ISU bio says.

That said, I still don't know what to think??
Becky (and only Becky) was with Camden at JGP Poland. (See the JGP Poland links in teamgoldengeese's post above.) Tom Z was not in Poland.
The FS in Poland was on Oct 7.
The ISU bio was last updated on Oct 19.
And Camden's IN bio does list both Tom and Becky as coaches.

But I don't want to hijack this lovely fan thread by dwelling on Becky's status one way or the other.

Go, Camden :yay:.

Becky is co-coach to Tom. As is Drew Meekins to a smaller role.

Camden - congratulations !!
I really loved this skater the first time since I watched him in JGP Salzburg, I was really "hin und weg" as we say in Germany.
What he said after his Nagoya FS was awesome: He just let his body take over trusting his training. What a mindset ! And he trains quads and wants to show them in world juniors, if he makes the team.
If there wouldn't have been a thread I would have opened one, so thanks for this thread.
Why didn't he participate in the exhibition ?
I want to see Camden at the Olympics 2022 on the podium !

Camden is one to watch for sure. In some ways, he reminds me of Josh Farris in that they both have huge 3As and innate musicality.

This musicality intrigued me. Ted Barton said after his 2017 Gdansk FS: "He makes it look as if the music is coming from his skating".

Pulkinen is a Finnish/ Scandinavian name. But Camden looks like he has som Asian roots also in him. Does someone know his roots ? Sorry if I am too curious.

Camden's free was really the highlight of the jgpf for me! I definitely agree that he has a Josh Farris quality to his skating. Great flow, expression, and connection to the music. Even his short program top reminds me of one of Josh's, but that's probably reading into it a bit too much.

Can't wait to see what he puts out at nats. (new junior national champion maybe?)

Camden junior national champion !
Seemed to me like he didn't have this perfect body tension as usual in his FS. Well, I dont mind, not every day is the same, maybe he didn't select Nationals as seasons peak, maybe his quad-training affects his jumps. He mentioned somewhere after GP final Nagoya he would include quads in his programs for Junior worlds, if he will qualify.
How many spots the US have for Junior worlds ? I hope two ( if Krasnozhon at the moment competing in US senior ranks will start in worlds juniors)?

US have 3 spots for men, what is a relief as both Krasnozhon and Torgashev are doing well in senior championships and are still eligible for JWC.
I would like to see Camden in Worlds very much :cheer:

Camden got an assignment for the JWC! Fair enough as he scored behind Alex and ahead of Tomoki. We will see three of them in Sofia :dance3:

Not sure. Both Drew Meekins and Tom Dickson are listed as his choreographers. Answering my own question: yes, it's all going to be on Ice Network, but the men's events are going to be on live very early in the morning, eastern standard time. So I'll be watching later on in the day. The ladies free skate is starting on Sat. morning around 9am EST, so there's hope I can watch that live. Looking forward to seeing Camden and all the American skaters there!
