This is a thread to share stories from around the globe that inspire hope. Stories that aren’t in the national/world news necessarily but should be heard. I’ve started two other threads that precede this one but both have since gone inactive so I’m going to give it another go.

The inspiration for thiese threads first came up while reading about a movement in Afghanistan that reaches out to mostly girls to help them get an education and hope thru skateboarding. Girls have a difficult time getting an education in Afghanistan and it’s equally as tough to play sports where many men/boys think girls shouldn’t participate at all. Here is a video that tells the tale of one of the students. This girl is inspiration and her outlook and drive to help herself for the sole purpose of helping those around her is really enlightening. While I wish a better condition and circumstance for her and her family I must admit I’m a little envious of her strength and determination. It’s amazing how much I take for granted every single day!

(It’s 9 minutes but worth it)

The school has spread and is now open in Africa and Cambodia helping to grow female literacy and education and of course...teaching them skateboarding.

Equally inspiring (a little shorter)

Please join me and share some inspirational stories! No matter how big or small.

Kelly Sildaru was a gold medal hopeful in Korea but faced a knee injury that required surgery and derailed her shot at an Olympic medal. Always a source of inspiration though she kept making vlogs of her recovery and moving forward. She just launched a power bar called Kelly Bars. The look of pride on her face when she goes to the grocery store and sees them for sale for the first time is priceless. I love too how they got some of the biggest action sports stars to try them out and record their reactions. I think she is still only 15 with full ski sponsors and now a vested interest as an entrepreneur. You can see the ownership she takes during the set up of her display and how involved with every detail she is. Even when injured and unable to train and participate in X-Games this year or any events including the Olympics she didn’t get down but instead got busy. I for one am left completely inspired by her.

I’d love to see some more olympians and their inspiring stories. I can imagine that about every single athlete has one :)

You’ll be my arms..I’ll be your eyes

The beautiful story of two men who over come disability and make an admirable effort to fight environmental ruin. It might just be the best 10 minutes you’ll spend today and is certain to offer perspective and inspiration!

I shared Grace VanderWaal’s music in the “What are You Listening To” thread but she deserves a spot in this thread without question. Everything about her is inspirational and I count myself amongst the millions who have been inspired by her. I’m not a very big follower of shows like America's Got Talent so this slipped past me but I’m glad I found her story the other day from a suggestion from a fellow musician.

I’ve watched this clip countless times and each time it gives me the Uber feels. What a talent and what a story. I’ve learned two new songs and wrote one of my own all fueled by her inspiration. Does anyone else get the feels for this story and her amazing voice? How about powerful message from such a simple song called I Don’t Know My Name? I hope someone else can find this and pass it along. This is what people need to see is happening in the world!

Take the time to watch this inspirational tale of friendship between a little girl and an elephant.

https://youtu.be/zhieTbWgURY

It’s amaxing how sensitive elephants are and inspite of less than desirable conditions (being a temple elephant) the emotions and friendships are very sincere. Worth the watch IMO.
