Here are the five teams who competed in dance at Japanese Nationals in 2017-18:

Muramoto/Reed have been assigned to the 2018 Four Continents Championships, 2018 Olympics and 2018 World Championships. Komatsubara/Koleto and Fukase/Tateno have also been assigned to Four Continents.

At the 2018 Four Continents Championships, Muramoto/Reed came third, becoming the first non-Canadian or American team to medal at that event.

Here are the teams who competed in dance at Japanese Junior Nationals. None of them competed on the JGP this season.

I'll add more information on the other senior teams in the next couple of posts.

August 9th 2018 Update

Muramoto/Reed have just announced their split. Both want to continue with new partners. Orihara/Mori split earlier this year. This leaves three teams who competed at senior Nationals: Komatsubara/Koleto, Fukase/Tateno, and Iida/Ishibashi. Junior champions Yajima/Shimazaki have moved up to senior domestically.

Following the sad news about the split of Kana and Chris, just to catch up with the rest of the couples:

Komatsubara/Koleto: just finished 3rd at Asian Open Trophy, will take a 2nd CS event at US Classics
Fukase/Tateno: Tateno has surgery to his left shoulder in Feb. He just finished rehab (in Japan?) and just got back to Montreal for training. This means the couple may have a delayed start for the season.
Orihara/Lee (see previous post)
Iida/Ishibashi: was skating together in June (2018 PRINCE MIKASA CUP ICE DANCE COMPETITION)

Yajima/Shimazaki: were junior champions in 2017, was at JWC in 2018, still skating together in June (also 2018 Prince Mikasa Cup), but have been competed at Senior level in June.

Updates about Ice dance team:

Fukase and Tateno has ended their partnership (unfortunately). The main reason is due to Tateno's injury and it's probably a difficult process for him to go through the rehab and everything. So Tateno decides to retire. And it seems Fukase may continue on.

Ayumi Takanami and Yoshimitsu Ikeda finished 26th at Junior Worlds (41.74 points in the SP).

https://twitter.com/figureskatingm1/status/1102862035371479041

They started a crowdfunding campaign recently (link within above url), which details how they became ice dancers and their history as a partnership.
On 5th March they had already exceeded their 1 mill target (at 1369000 yen) with the aim of reaching 3.7 mill yen to cover one season.

They hope to turn senior in July 2020. I hope that they can achieve their goals! :)

For the new teams, we have Yoshida/Nishiyama, who just made their competition debut in junior dance at Minto Summer Skate and Fukase/Roy, who are entered in senior dance at the Qubec Summer skate in a couple of weeks. Yuka Orihara (who competed with a Canadian partner last year) is now skating for Finland with a new partner.

Here are Y/N's programs from Minto. They're skating to A Chorus Line for the RD and Don Quixote for the FD. They came 4th.

FD: https://youtu.be/eqo_JzcHNok

They look great for a brand new team.

According to the Wikipedia page for the 2018-19 season, Rikako Fukase teamed up with Oliver Zhang and they skated at the Championnats Québécois d'été in August. I believe they are representing Japan.

Also, Kiria Hirayama and Kenta Ishibashi skated at the Lake Placid Ice Dance International, placing 10th.
