Hello everyone,
an Adult beginner needs a bit of advice:
Over a few months in Graf Boleros (that didn't really work for me) I switched to Edea Overtures. I got them in the smaller size that was suggested to me by the Shop Owner and back then I was a little surprised that she didn't show me anything but Edea but I didn't really question it (cause I knew that like... most competitive skaters skate in Edea so why not me too?)
Anyway fast forward 2 Months and I'm still having the same pain I've had from the very beginning - now a little bit duller but still insistent. It had always felt like a sort of cramping where my foot arch is. I figured that I just needed to break them in and that it was because I took the smaller size.
Well surprise surprise, a few weeks ago I started to notice more and more that my heel was starting to slip in the boot. Even during simple crossovers sometimes.
So today I finally went to a different Skate Shop that was recommended to me and surprise again - my boots are actually at least one size too big. (I got 245, I was measure for either the 240 or more likely 235).
Additionally due to my feet being wider and Edeas usually being cut narrower, Edeas are not going to work on me at all probably.
He recommended me Jacksons, and put me into one of the "recreational" jackson models (though he didn't say which one it was) in the size smaller and low and behold, that was a HUGE difference.
We agreed that next time I'll come by, I can borrow them and skate in them for a little bit, see how the sizing feels and then we can look at the models.
So after all that - question to the forum. What would be the recommondation in terms of Model? He mentioned the Classiques, but I did a bit of research on my way home and I'm a bit worried that they might force me to buy a new model relatively quickly as they aren't quite the same level as the Overtures?
I know I might be exaggerating - I'm only doing half jumps right now and no actual singles yet, as well as crossovers, edge work, some turns...
But I'm worried, that especially as an adult (and I'm not super light weight) I would break the classiques down too quickly? Especially as i'm currently skating between 2-4 times a week.
Would the next one up be the freestyle? I know Edeas are supposedly not possible to overboot in, but I don't know about Jacksons?
I'd be happy about any tips you have for me.
