Silver! OMG, I fist pumped and screamed so loudly when he went ahead of Moris.

Congrats to Artur, and to us fans for believing in him and his coaches! He seemed so happy just being here, that K&C moment when he realized he was leading was great! Aliev and him were so cute with their reactions!!!

Congrats again to Artur!

Artur‘s ability to hold himself together at big events is certainly something to admire! The same can’t be said about many other skaters, even some much more experienced ones. Congratulations!

Artur has successfully helped to maintain quotas for all 3 of his big events (JrW x 2, Euros). Impressive! Especially going in to all of them as Rus#3.

Also, cool fact that he managed to medal at both Jr. and Sr. Nats on his first try, booking his ticket to his 2nd international event ever on that level (JrW, Euros-youngest competitor in both to boot), and medaling at both (silvers)!!!! I was going to mention it prior to Euros but didn't want to jinx a potential Euro medal

Artur has updated his PB in all categories! Is now 24th in the world standings and 17th on the season's best list! Obtaining 2 senior grand prix should be no issue and he should have 1 more shot at improving his SB!

Gorshkov said the 2nd member for Senior Worlds will be discuss with the council.

Only 16 and already so impressive! His posture and carriage, the use of his arms and hands, fantastic. I can't wait to see how he develops in the future :luv17: I hope he goes to worlds, he deserves it.

Oh and thank god we seem to have a Russian man without major stamina issues at the end of a program

I am so happy that I got to see both programs live in the end (there was supposed to be sth else last night)!

I still don't like the Verdi program that much, but if it works for him to get the big jumps introduced into competition programs, do it by all means. Like the posture, the arms, the attention to detail. He has good speed and flow (as I said earlier already), skating skills developing nicely. A little of bit of telegraphing the big jumps by letting go of the performance side, but that will hopefuly pass with time and experience.

I kind of hope he will go to the senior Worlds. He has already a Junior medal and it would be good for him to go head to head with the big boys for that potentially difficult first experience to be over. The senior guys have not been very convincing overall, whereas Artur is seemingly on an upward track.

In any case, soooo happy and proud for his success here in Graz!!

Oh, and to add one detail to reactions. Laura Lepistö, the 2009 ladies European champion, was apparently very taken by Artur. She had not known of him before and was delighted by his skating, described him as a "bit of a chick still", but "just like that medalling at his first Europeans".

I’m so happy for Artur and now sad I didn’t go to Graz. Though I could hardly watch Artur's free, one of the few times in my life I sure had high blood pressure. Here are some very old pics of Artur:

So sweet.

Regarding the interview I’m worried Buyanova mentions problems with his feet and that they had planned to return to Moscow immediately after the Men’s competition to cure them and now they have to stay for the gala. Personally I think it would be a better option for Artur to go to Senior Worlds than JW. But if they decide to do JW I very much hope he gets a bye for RJN from RF.

Hello everybody! I read through the two interviews that CSKA released on their website, one from Buyanova and one from Artur. I really wanted to translate them so that all of you guys can also get the full insight that these two interviews bring, I think they are both of high quality. Here is Artur’s interview.

Artur Danielian: ”By the end of the program, I completely immersed myself into the performance...”

- It seemed as though your coaches skated your whole program with you. When you were skating, did you feel their support?

- Yes, of course I did (smiles). I see and hear everything when I pass by, I saw that the coaches were completely ‘with’ me. Before the skate I tried to set myself up for the program, so that there were no unnecessary thoughts in my head. At the end of the program, I completely immersed myself into the performance and started to full on enjoy myself on the ice.

- Before the competition, did you expect the fact that you can earn a medal?

- I am going to be honest, I didn't think of places. What I wanted to show was clean skating and consistency. I wanted to prove that I can skate without any meltdowns. Though a small meltdown did happen (smiles).

- Is this the biggest success in your career?

- I think that, at this moment, yes. This is my first success on international senior competitions, as well as my first ‘big’ medal after Junior Worlds.

- Are you planning any work on other quad jumps?

- Yes, right now I am working on all quads, except for the flip.

- Because of the edge on the flip?

- Well, it’s just that the season is still going on and I don’t want a strenuous load of work to impact my health. And really, it’s also so that I don’t have to learn all the jumps at the same time. I can learn jumps one by one, stabilize them, and then show them at competitions.

I can say that there is decent work being done with the toeloop and the loop. I already ‘landed’ them, but I shouldn’t get ahead of myself. Currently we are in the process of stabilizing the jumps. But to say that I land 7 out of 10 of these jumps — that didn’t happen yet. There had been a couple of successful attempts.

Elena Buyanova: “Couldn’t even imagine this happening”, “He was looking at everyone with such wide eyes...”

- Don’t you think that in the free skate, Artur Danielian reminded a lot of young Javier Fernandez?

- In Graz, everyone, from each and every corner, keeps telling me that. I never associated Artur with Javi myself, but now I started to look at him slightly in a different light. Indeed, there is a distinct similarity between the two. But it is not because we are somehow trying to copy anyone. Artur is innately gentle and rhythmical, just like Fernandez. Although in comparison with the Spanish skater Artur loses right now, that’s because he hasn’t yet learned to skate open, unrestrained and free. You can feel some sort of tension in him. I hope that this tension lets loose when he gets older. In Artur, like in Javier, there is a lot of humor, self irony — he is able to wonderfully express grotesque characters. We, consequently, tried to highlight these exact qualities. In the beginning of the season, we tried to make something more masculine, more serious, but at the right time decided to let that go. We think that was the right choice.

- Did you expect that your skater will earn a medal at his debut on European Championships?

- I couldn’t even imagine that — after all there are two skaters in our team that are very experienced, far more experienced than Artur. It stings that in the free skate, there was a mistake on such a basic jump. Perhaps Artur used too much energy on the quads.

That is exactly what a lack of experience is: you can’t make such mistakes when you are fighting for a medal. But despite that, I liked the way Artur set himself up to skate before the program, the way he spent his warmups, training periods. I think an internal athletic spirit is starting to appear and grow in him — it is awesome when a skater starts to gain confidence.

- Did any worries show up before the debut?

- Artur arrived in Graz with a fervent desire to compete. He is a really big fan of figure skating, in the most broad sense of this word. He knows everybody, watches all programs, follows what is happening. If I were to speak about Danielian’s character, you can really sense his natural intelligence, which in relation to sport, can sometimes seriously hurt an athlete. I hope that the result which we were able to show will only give Artur wings in the future.

- What was the hardest for you as a coach at this competition?

- There were lots of small disturbances, but I wouldn’t call them hard. When an athlete first makes their appearance on this level, it is always easier for them than when they have competed two or three times. That is why I told Artur that this competition should be of some sort a party, a joy for him, where he can let himself fly freely despite the circumstances. Obviously this is not an easy task for a debuting athlete — appear among the faces who you mostly just seen through recordings. And of course, he looked at everyone with eyes open so wide.

“Still, Artur has some problems with his legs...”

- When Artur qualified for the Europeans, there were rumors that you would prefer for your student to spend the rest of the season in juniors.

- Well Artur is going to spend the rest of the season in juniors — we by no means want to reject the idea of going to Junior Worlds.

- In regards to this, there is probably going to be an another point open to discussion: should Danielian go to the Senior Worls in Montreal as well? Won’t it be too much of a load for Artur?

- I didn’t think at all about this, I am too overwhelmed with emotions. ‘I will think about it tomorrow,’ as said the heroine from a famous novel. All of this we will definitely discuss with the Russian Skating Federation, but our immediate plans are the Cup of Russia and qualifying for the Junior Worlds.

- Does a person who has won a silver medal of senior European Championships have to really prove that he has to compete at Junior Worlds, and earn his spot on the team on a regular basis?

- Those are the rules. I am not yet ready to predict how things will work out in the future, before the Europeans I even agreed with the heads of the Russian team that me and Artur will return to Moscow right after the competition, in order to have more time to prepare for the upcoming start. But it happens now that these plans will have to change because Artur has to perform at the Gala.

Artur started this season relatively early — in May. Then, like everyone else, we had boot problems. That is why it would be good to have the ability to rest a little bit and reenergize. Bur now our plans don’t only depend on our wishes.

- Could you please elaborate on the phrase you said in regards to the boots? What do you mean, ‘like everyone else’?

- Well, from the summer period didn’t many already have their boots break? It’s not normal, but that is how things are. So we have enough troubles. Artur still has some issues with his legs. We counted on a pause after the Europeans, so that we could change our boots and heal our legs, but that is hard when we have to train restlessly.

- Would you wish to be able to dismiss Danielian from having to qualify separately for Junior Worlds, in order to to conserve power?

- If we will be given this kind of opportunity, we, most likely, really will not compete at the World qualifying starts.

I read this interview, but I think, maybe there is something wrong with his feet, not legs(the russian word "ноги"means leg or foot......in this article, maybe means foot)
Hope he can find suitable boots~

At the rate he is growing, he will need tight fitting new boots several times a year. And perhaps Artur indeed has 'difficult' feet, meaning custom boots with a cast footbed or something. All costing $$$
