Well, this was far from perfect. Apart from the mistake Artur seemed to skate quite reserved. But then he had to wait quite long after the warm up till he could start his program. :(

To me it looked like he got some quite strict words from Selitskaya on that 2t. If I understood them correctly in the K&C Artur opposed he could not have landed a triple after that Lutz, but Selitskaya told him that a fall on a triple still would have been better than a double?

On the positive side levels are not much better compared to his first outing in JGP and he didn’t get an ! or e on his flip this time.

He is so lucky he didn't get a call on his flip. His score would have been LOW (~64-65) which is sad considering the only mistake he made was doubling his toe.

I don't get his team's strategy at all. So far the only thing they've changed since Ljubljana is the level on his steps but that's less than 1 point gained. They haven't changed anything else. Surely barely cracking 71 with a clean skate is not their goal :scratch2: This program is such a liability and it doesn't have to be that way. At least not scoring this low.

One is that they haven't moved the combo to the bonus  Is it stubbornness? Laziness? Don't really care? Don't want to offend TAT? What gives? I would love for his coaches to tell us why he jumps his combo last but not in the bonus. It makes no sense to me. I think that's the real conversation they should be having and not this doubling vs falling on a potentially underrotated 3t massively decreasing his already low TES nonsense :gaah: This is one reason he can't break 70. Points left on the table. WHY???? :palmf: Putting the flip in the corner like in his LP to get an "!" instead of an "e" in its current location is another 2 points. So a few points lost before he starts to skate. Why this current strategy? WHY????? :sad4: I just cannot with Selitskaya/Buianova right now :disapp:

Positive: The best thing about this SP was the footwork he had in Ljubljana. Every move went with the music! I watch it often with fondness :luv17:
Negative: Now it's gone and I'm sad, the new one is off the music so badly towards the end and it irks me. They also took out the jumping part and I want it back :tantrum: I would also like for this part to match the music again please! Oh wait, they took that out too. GASP! Can we get at least this part to match the music? :sad21:
Positive: level 3 though. LOL

P.S. I see he got a shorter chain. Excellent!!!

And good luck tomorrow Artur! His LP is close to perfection :luv17: The only issue is attaching his euler-sal onto the flip? WHYYYYYYYY???? Artur, you're losing positive GOE son! Sorry, totally fixated on the technical. I can't help it! LOL

ETA: Wow, he was off the music the ENTIRE time, must have been the false start. Oh well. My comments about the footwork still stands since it didn't go with the music in Yerevan either. LOL!

Congratulations! Well done Artur! :hap10: :hap10::hap10: And again his flip was given full credit, so it looks like they worked a lot on it (well, generous panel, but still).

I think it was right to debate that combo jump. Artur’s team should not focus on one competition, but on some line for the future. Pops are the worst thing you can do. And if you do that often in competition, it gets into your system (see Misha!). So I see the criticism here. ;)

The other thing is that team Buyavova once more proved that they are unable to milk the rulebook. Hopefully they can fix these issues till JN.

I agree with Artur. A 3t was not happening, he had lost all momentum coming out of that Lutz. Now the one in the LP I would have tried for the triple.

With the flip, at least in the SP, from the replay, it was indeed an "e". So yes he got lucky there. But I don't know what angle the tech panel had so I'll leave it at that.

We will see what changes they make going forward. It's already been about 2 months since Yerevan and nothing changed.

But that's just me. Everyone is free to disagree

Remy Rose, I guess one thing we can sure agree is that Artur needs to work on his toeloop. Either this or his team might consider loop-combos for him. Actually I think his team should have better worked on fixing his flip and toeloop technique after last year's JW than on quads. But I see where pressure came from. :eek:hwell:

I by the way very much liked Artur’s reaction in the K&C after the free. This was a really good skate and he probably knew it’s enough to win. But still he was very serious and thoughtfully watching the marks. He was fully aware that he might have done even better. I like his self-critical attitude. :yay:

I actually think his toeloop looks improved this year. Last year it was small, barely rotated or under with a fall and it doesn't look like that any more at least to me. He gets good GOE on his toeloops in combination with his axel and lutz when he does it well. So I assume they have been working on it.

I'm no fan of -3lo combinations. If that was an easy combo to achieve, then a lot more skaters would do it. But it is not. Two of Artur's training mates do a loop combo and neither does it well. Plus there was Adelina who did it. So a loop combo is not a foreign concept to the group and yet he doesn't do one and there may be a reason for it.

My generally feeling on the flip is to learn 2 different quads then dump it. Sure he will suffer when it's the required jump in juniors, so bury it in the judges' blind corner, for an "!" and be done with it. Yes he can work on correcting it but that will take years and there is no guarantee that the edge will actually be corrected.

Now what I think he really needs to work on are his spins :slink: Plus SS. I'm not sure if I can see a difference in his SS compared to last honestly, it looks about the same. Also work on selling his SP more.

Artur got chosen (or volunteered?) to give the oath of athletes at the opening ceremony of the Russian-Chinese Winter Games :luv17: He didn't seem nervous at all! You can see a clip of it here :agree: Here's a picture of Artur giving the oath PIC1 and then there are these PIC2, PIC3 :laugh2: And another one

SP done! Artur is currently in 2nd place (74.16), 6 points from 1st. Not a clean program. He flipped out of the solo flip and had a turn in between his 3lz and 3t. I hope he can leave here with at least a silver. Good luck in the FP Artur!!! Do your best!

They get along well going by Instagram. That's nice to see.

Quote from after Tallinn:

"To be honest, I'm not very happy. What is short, that in a free program I didn’t perform a combination 3lutz/3toe loop, I did only 3/2. And in general, somehow, without much emotions, I skated both programs. There was nothing heavy, without nerves and any unnecessary thoughts, tried to show the working skates. Of course, it's a good thing to win, but it was a regular start, played here, so as not to lose the competitive tone. Major tournaments are still ahead!"

Quote after the SP (Ufa):

The silver medalist of the 2018 World Junior Championships Artur DANIELIAN with 74.16 points is second. Is the skater happy with his performance?

“The skate, to put it mildly, I am not very happy, because in each element made a small mistake, so it turned out such a dirty program. As for the preparation, for me each start is the same and the name does not change anything. I have to show good skating at any start, because going out on the ice, first of all, I struggle with myself,” Arthur shares his impressions.

Quote after FP:

The silver medalist of the World Junior Championships Artur Danielian skated a short program worse than Andrei, losing 6 points to him. The athlete this time fell at the end of the performance, but this did not prevent him from collecting a total of 215.63 points, which brought the gold medal. Artur sums up the performance at the games.

"I'm upset by this stupid mistake at the end because the program performed well, and this annoying mistake ruined everything. Before the free program I thought only about one thing: to show a decent and clean skate. Andrei was not able to follow the skate completely, gave an interview, saw only his good quadruple, from which he fell and popped the axel, showed a decent level. It is impossible not to mention my competitors from China: we all have something to learn, there is no limit to perfection, but, going to such a level, you need to have a triple axel. I am leaving the games with a good mood: here the great audience, which supported me, was very pleasant," -concluded Artur

I've uploaded these fan videos to YouTube. Not the best of qualities but decent enough  Please note, the FP is missing the last 30 seconds.

Happy New Year!
