I just realized that Eteri (along with Daniil and Sergei) has produced the following:
- Reigning Ladies' Youth Olympic champion - Polina
- Reigning Ladies' Junior World Champion - Alexandra
- Reigning Ladies' World Champion - Evegnia
- Reigning Ladies' Olympic Champion - Alina
- Reigning Men's Junior World Champion - Alexey

It won't be long until she (they) will consistently produce junior and senior men's champions as well.

Is this a record for a coaching team? I haven't seen a team produce this much of a accomplished skaters at the same time.

At least there are two reigning (2017) novice champions on national level from other coaches:
- Kamila Valieva in Younger Age Novices (U11) coached by Natalia Dubinskaya, and
- Anastasia Tarakanova in Older Age Novices (U13) coached by Svetlana Panova back then.

Still, this year favourite for U11 Nats is Sofia Akatieva trained by Eteri, so...

[Btw., 2018 Russian Novice Nats (U11 and U13) start day after tomorrow! :yay:]

same time as in 2018? Then Polina and Evgenia shouldn't be included. If it's all around, I'm sure Brian Orser has a better record.

Olympics champions - Hanyu x2, Yuna
Worlds Champions- Hanyu x2, Javier x2, Yuna
JWC - Nam

I thought it is a thread of the coaches (jump, dance, off-ice, on-ice...) in her team.
I would love to know all of them. There is a guy with junior ladies in their domestic competitions, but I don't know his name.

I think it's weird to compare Orser with Eteri because they live in two different contexts.

- Eteri raised skaters from the ground (although now she is coaching also skaters that already have their technique), Brian Orser is more like Frank Carroll, he works with skaters that already have their basis.

- In Russia juniors are as important (if not even more) than seniors, while in NA they don't care about juniors, so that's part of the reason why Eteri is so much more successful as a coach in junior.

- They started coaching on their own rink around the same time, but for Eteri it was much more difficult to get some recognition: RusFed always favored CSKA, the rest in Moscow were all considered b-coaches with less funding, no opportunities to go to the major seniors events,..., she had to literally shock the world with Julia to get some visibility, Orser started with all the push he needed from Skate Canada and that's why after only 1-2 years he already had an Olympic Champion

They are both extremely successful.

Evgenia is technically still the reigning world champion
YOG occur once every four years, when the summer Olympics do for winter sports, and last occurred in 2016. So Polina is still the reigning YOG champion.

Not to mention Hwan Cha (JGPF bronze). And I'm very excited about Gogolev. Gabrielle Daleman was also WC bronze medalist last year.
Anyway I don't think they are comparable as coaches —their style is totally different. It's undeniable that they both produce incredible results.

I do feel like Eteri's more like a teenage factory and Orser a refinement school, so to speak

First of all... Orser's got nothing to do with this thread. Second... Those all are reigning champions of the respective events, exactly as it says in the OP.

When it comes to reigning champions, Yuna and Hanyu are from different eras.

Well FIRST of all, The OP asked if this was a record.SECOND, If it’s “same time” it would have to be in 2018, not year before or 2 years before so Polina and Evgenia is out. And since Op did add those two, i assumed he/she meant all around which Orser had a better record in. I’m not bashing Eteri, chill out for once

I'm curious to see if Eteri will eclipse TAT's record in producing OGM winners. She could conceivably coach for 3 more decades & look how much she's already accomplished.

Brian hinted at possible retirement after his youngest student finishes, although I guess he might always change his mind.

Reigning does not necessarily mean 2018. If the latest comp of that name was in 2017, the winner is still the reigning champion. Hence why Zhenya is still the reigning world champ: because worlds haven't ended for the ladies yet. Hence why Polina is still the reigning YOG champ: because that last took place in 2016, and she won.

The OP mentions same time. It only makes sense for Trusova and whoever the JwC for men is. Alina’s win really shouldnt be included in the “same time” but it’s relatively close to JWC. Perhaps Olympics cycle would be a better word choice than same time

I remember somewhere in other threads I read that Danill’s mother is a ballet teacher. She gives ballet classes to eteri’s skaters(?) and helped with Alina’s posture, especially when she was involved in choreographying Don Quixote. I could be wrong!! Please clarify if there is anyone with better information.

As for Eteri, we need to keep in mind she has been coaching for less time than Orser, so she had less Olympic opportunities. So lets do a full list:

Olympic Medals - Lipnitskaya (14 Team Gold), Medvedeva (18 Silver), Zagitova (18 Gold)
World Medals - Lipnitskaya(13-14 Silver), Medvedeva (15-16 Gold), Medvedeva (16-17 Gold)

So the medal count is, in about 20 years of coaching career:

Also, I think Eteri's been coaching for closer to 15 years, making her accomplishments all the more impressive
Plus Orser can send students to both Euros and 4CC

Thanks for the list. It's really impressive what these coaches have produced. Though Eteri's numbers are lower, I'm sure it'll surpass Orser probably in the next season
