do you think she has a chance to get the host spot at NHK?

Last season, for Kihira to get the spot to NHK, remember there was a closed competition held to decide on that? As I don't recall JSF holds the closed-door competition regularly to decide on the host spot to NHK, we're not sure if the same will happen this season. If there's a closed-door competition, Hosoda may have to compete against up-coming skaters such as Yokoi and others.

On the other hand, a CS assignment seems to be more possible. It will not be a surprise that if she gets the assignment with one of the Hamada girls. But IIRC, there's also pre-competition to decide on the CS spots?

A couple years ago Ryuji Hino was selected after finishing eighth at Nationals, but he already had a few.podium finishes at international events beforehand.

The odds are slim, but they aren't zero. More likely that she goes to a lower tier event.

I think that without that closed competition Yuhana Yokoi has more chances to be selected. As she finished higher at nats, even if after she didn't get a good result at junior worlds.
If there is a closed competition, everyone has a chance imo.

Sorry to drag men's skating into the ladies thread, but a little correction - Ryuju wasn't selected for 2016 NHK. The original entry was Sota, and Ryuju got to compete in his place after Sota re-injured his foot. Maybe Ayaka can be a substitute as well. Hiroaki would be a better parallel perhaps, since he was 8th at 2017 Nats and got assigned to NHK 2018. But then, he'd already had a good NHK showing from the year before. The competition among the ladies seems fiercer though.

Are there any promising juniors coming into seniors this season, who could get that nhk spot?

Rika and Kaori look to be one and two which leaves one spot. Satoko has been such a rock but her jumps aren't very big - can she hang on to that third sport. Artistically she rules in Japan.

The new season hasn't even started. Sheets are blank for everyone imo.

Rika’s 3A is so beautiful! Anyone else not the biggest fan of the SP music though? :(
