Emmy cannot stay junior; she can’t compete with the juniors doing 3A, triple-triples and quads.
OTOH...
Emmy cannot compete senior because she doesn’t have a triple-triple.

Emmy brings a lot to the table, IMO She may not have the technical goods, but she should continue to keep highlighting the strengths of her skating while she works on the other stuff. Her skating skills are really good and she has great performance ability.

I think she should move up senior and do what she can. I think she can continue to get Challenger events and continue to gain international experience.

I agree that this is what she should do. Senior GP events might not be realistic for her at this point, but she can continue to develop and hopefully begin trying out 3-3s in competition. Maybe she'll become a less nervy competitor with more experience, maybe not. I do think that she has outgrown the junior level. Other than the technical elements, she has the appearance of and skates like a senior lady. She just won't fit in on the junior level.

Not sure how valid this is but I heard Karen is looking for a new coach. I'd like to see her with Raf and I think having rink competition could help her get into a good competitive mindset (which she obviously lacks most of the time)

Karen’s coach will be moving to Colorado Springs, CO and Karen will as well to keep training with Tammy Gambill.

Any news on Gracie Gold yet? I heard on Twitter that she was permanently training in Aston, PA with Vincent (Ting Cui’s former coach).

I knew Ting left Vincent, but for whom?

Rumor mill (aka TSL) says Raf.

I like the idea of Raf training a small stable of international young ladies, but I'm more concerned about how it seems like only a very few of his top skaters seem to improve and get results, while others (Mariah, Michal, etc.) stagnate. As fans, we don't actually know who gets attention in the rink and who doesn't, but there's definitely speculation that a lot of Raf's skaters just don't get the attention of others.

Idk, if I was Ting, I would do my best to move to BOrser. I feel like getting to train alongside Evgenia would be inspirational.

I think Brian has enough on his plate right now. During competition season he must almost never even be at the rink because he is always away at internationals and GP. Moving to brian would just give her way less attention since Evgenia, Yuzuru, Stephen Gogolev, Jun Hwan and others would be more important.

I largely agree, but if it's true she is moving to Raf, then she's moving to a coach with just as much going on as BOrser does. :confused2:

I would not say it is just speculation.
His track record seems to prove it.

Raf seems to have a pecking order among his students - with some seeming to get less attention than others.

Though I don't follow other coaches closely - so I don't know how he would compare to others.

Or some of his skaters just better than others?

We really have no way of knowing how much individual attention each skater gets. BOrser (along with everyone else at CC), for example, seems to go on an hourly rate regardless of who the skater is. Do skaters demand X amount of hours from certain coaches/specialists and pay accordingly? Are contracts negotiated where skaters are promised X amount of hours per month from certain people and pay for that in advance?

For Raf, I imagine it has to be a little more complicated than just "Nathan gets the most attention, then Ashley and Adam get a lot too, while he ignores everyone else." These skaters are all paying for their coaching and expect a certain amount of attention. We don't really know much more beyond that, though I'm curious as to how it all actually works in practice. Figuring out the billing for everyone sounds like a nightmare.

He better make Mariah a top priority!!

But he won’t.😢 He thinks she’s too old , and he has a lot of great youngsters now. Look at the atrocious program she had last year. Look at how “over her” he looked in the kiss-and-cry: right up until her messy performances at 4CC and Worlds.

With Adam gone for good and Ashley out at least for the season, Raf has lost two of his major players, and Nathan will be away at Yale. He should have a lot more time available for Mariah and others.
