I just watched the medal ceremony and Yelim looks like a GIANT next to Alyona, it's so funny

Yes, compared with herself two years old, Yelim has improved so much. She was very introvert, had shaky jumps and the programs were not working for her. Now has looks so elegant, jumps are beautiful and she started to show some personality.

im hoping Yelim can medal at JW! or helping S.Korea got 3 spot which is very possible with her ans Young Y. also if Yelim compete in Senior Nats and win i wonder if fed will sent her to WC? She has highest score so far, and can break 200 surely.

Yelim has done what Eunsoo should've done last year [emoji23]

Anyway, I'm surprised that her medalling didn't get much traction from the media. Then again, K-Media don't care that much about figure skating these days. But I was expecting some sort of hype up clip for her.

She did come up as a hot topic on Naver, but in general the media here don't care much about figure skating or non-mainstream sports unless someone wins gold :noshake:

they did show Junhwan winning at ACI and You Young winning bronze in Bratislava. Both in short segments on tv but they did cover it at least. I haven't seen any tv coverage for Yelim tho :scratch2: it seems they're still clinging on that "you young is the new yuna kim" thing. Also they like to talk about her landing the 3A in practice.

Yup, they just can't give up on the "Second Yuna Kim" thing. It's not only Young (though she is the 'child prodigy' and therefore is called that the most), basically every Korean lady who breaks out into the international scene gets called something along the lines of "Little Yuna", "aspiring Yuna", or "Yuna-to-be". Even Junhwan was called the "male Yuna" when he got the bronze at JGPF. Our media basically wants them to be a second once-in-a-lifetime miracle... :palmf:

I think that's why Young's 3A is mentioned so often, since she hasn't won any international gold medals yet they need something to 'prove' she's going to be the new world/olympic champion. The hype hasn't troubled her enough already, right? :sarcasm:

I think I saw a short coverage video of Yelim in the Naver sports news section, not sure whether it was actually aired on TV or was a web-only. Will go check.

Edit: It was on SBS, link: https://m.sports.naver.com/general/news/read.nhn?oid=055&aid=0000677728

Huuuuge congrats to Yelim for 2 well earned silver medals!! And Seoyeong for a great debut. She's still super awkward with her long limbs, but her layback is amaaaazing. While I still wish Yelim's free was R&J, I'm happy she's found a format that works for her.

Junhwan also has my fave free of the season. I unironically love it now.:p

And if we're shouting out to youngsters, my fave Jihyun has done it again with unique boots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn9jTEnGf6c
She has unique tights too in her free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXeD5xS2fMo
Though I am extremely sad to see her Barbie Girl program go.:( It should be a crime for them not to give her an upbeat program when she's so smiley and cute!
