"I appreciate all the support and affection I received from all of you. All the screams and applause that were heard in the arena helped me not to give up and keep fighting for all the elements of both routines. It gives me great pleasure that many people from the Latino community have had the opportunity to come and support me and enjoy such an important event. Receiving and reading all your messages and comments made me feel at home.
No doubt about this competition I have learned a lot since the goals that my coach Gregorio Núñez and I had for this competition were achieved.
After the long program I went through a moment of reflection, which helped me to see the positive side of this situation, evaluate my performance and find the things that I have to work on to improve.
I feel very excited and grateful to the organizing committee and the ISU for inviting me to participate in the ISU Gala Four Continents of Figure Skating Championship 2019 will be an honor to participate in this show for all of you, I hope you can join us."

Cute pics

Awesome fan art :luv17:
Whoever had the ingenuity to throw in that sombrero should pat him/herself on the back... it officially became his symbol :clapper: Hurricane of sombreros may be forecasted in his future competitions, following the footsteps of Yuzupooh :peace:

In the last week several articles have been published on the internet and comments have been made in sports segments and TV shows :eeking: , only that the information is somewhat ambiguous or imprecise :drama: , it is to be expected since Donovan is opening a door to a little-known sport in Mexico (country of soccer)

On the official website of Donovan, his participation in Worlds Junior and Senior has been confirmed :hap10:

I'm still waiting for the video of the group number of guys and couples (there will surely be some shots of Donovan interacting with other skaters)

Support the motion: Rain of charro's hats :yahoo:

I have it. It is to Coldplay's "Something Just Like this" and I fear if I post it they would mute the audio, like it happened with the performances of Jason and Sean :scowl:. If you, or anyone else are interested I can send you via WeTransfer, PM me with your email addy!

Facebook is terrible, almost every time I try to share a video they mute the music right away :tantrum: I have never uploaded anything on Dailymotion, I will take a look and see what I can do!

I saw their FS by a facebook transmission, the commentators indicated that there was a good audience of latin americans who traveled to encourage Donovan and Andrea :hap10: , and felt the excitement of seeing Mexican skaters in 4CC after almost 9 years (last year the event was in Taipei so they didnt manage to travel to cheer them up)

I wonder if he will skate "Black Machine" at the gala?

¡¡Eres increíble Donovan!! Tu trabajo seguirá dando alegría a todo México y América Latina :agree:

I'm sure there were many Americans of Mexican descent in the audience who "adopted" him too. Who wouldn't want to? He's such a cutie! Obviously not quite the long program he had hoped for, but his short was wonderful. Also the fact that he had a good 3A in the short was great. That's the second time I've seen him live, and I really enjoyed him!

Great news! Finally Donovan will receive support from the government. He now is part of the athletes supported by CONADE (something like the national sports association). I just read it and wanted to share with you. Don't have time to translate now but if you want, I can do it later (Google can do a good translation, probably). Basically he doesn't have to worry now for paying for his trips/competitions, equipment, doctors...he just has to concentrate on training. I'm so happy!!

This is such awesome news! Sounds like the government may now realize it has a National Treasure on its hands! Congratulations to Donovan! :hb:

I saw this article quoted on Twitter and came right away to the thread, because although I can read the Spanish, my knowledge of Mexican governmental agencies is sadly lacking and I did not know what this actually *meant*.

A question for our Mexican friends: is it my imagination, or has there been far more publicity/talk shows/television appearances for Donovan in Mexico after 4CC.

In any event, bravo Donovan!:yahoo: and perhaps this will raise the profile of figure skating overall in Mexico as well:agree:

I would say that the only time he has received more media attention was when he went viral with that first Juan Gabriel FS at the Junior GP in Japan. He is definitely on the radar, I saw on IG that he was featured in a TV Azteca program which is one of the biggest broadcasting stations in Mexico. And I've also seen quite a few articles online, idk how he is doing with the printed media but I hooe he is getting his fair share of articles as well. And of course, he is very popular among us Mexican figure skating fans. When I had the privilege to watch him live in Mexico City the rink was packed with people who wanted to see him,and after he finished he stayed rinkside for over an hour because there were so many who wanted to take a picture with him and give him some gifts. A fan even gave him a HUGE alebrije she made for him, he really liked it

This is such wonderful news! It is good to know Donovan's country appreciates what he has achieved, and that it will be less of a struggle for him to fund his skating.

FYI, CONADE means Comisión Nacional del Deporte.

Regarding your question, I'm a strange being that doesn't watch TV but in his instastories
you could see that he was invited to some radio and TV shows so that was good.

I want to share this from the CONADE's insta. It quotes Donovan:

Seeing myself competing at the Olympics is not a dream anymore, it's a goal I want to accomplish and I'm working to achieve it.

¡Vamos Donovan, tú puedes!

Excited to see that Donovan has received $1,561.24 in donations on his Go Fund Me page. Every little bit helps! Tú puedes, Donovan! Just three more years 'til the Olys!

I don't really watch tv neither, but I am part of his biggest latin american fan page on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/157263191592642/) and a lot of people commented there that he has been in several radio and tv programs, also I've seem some stuff on facebook about him been shared by people who know nothing about FS, he is definitely getting a lot more recognition and I am so happy

CONADE basically pays for athletes training and expenses for competitions, however they depend on the money granted by the federal government and every year it seems that the total for them suffers cuts :( In 2016 it was so bad, that they couldn't pay for all of the expenses for the athletes that went to the Olympics and you would literally see these top athletes on public transportation asking for money :bang:

Anyways at least now he has some help whereas before it was zero.
