Since Roman won his second CS medal on the strength of his SP, I thought I'd share the video that I've cut from the archived livestream here: https://vimeo.com/300871569

I don't think anyone wants to relive that disastrous LP, though, which was even worse than the one at SCI (127.04 points vs. 142.88).

But I do have the Inge Solar Memorial Senior Men Medal Ceremony: https://vimeo.com/301086660

While watching the livestream, I honestly couldn't believe he managed to hang on to a silver medal with such a poor FS performance. He got LUCKY. But Roman had better fix whatever issues he's currently having, otherwise he won't even finish in the Top 10 at Nationals.

Pretty much all the men at Inge Solar skated badly with the exception of Grassl. Innsbruck is only about 1900 feet above sea level, so it's not really at high altitude.

Charlie has settled on a new partner, name not yet announced. Apparently they’re in the process of arranging her move to Quebec.

Thanks for the video of the medal ceremony... I had to step away at that point and missed it.

    Interesting point...

But for a high skill sport like figure skating, the change in air density will affect the feedback from balance and proprioception...

And there is a significant change for 3% in air density per every 1000 ft of altitude.

    https://www.sciencedaily.com/release...0216113855.htm

Roman did well to get one 4S landed in his FS...and his instinct to pull back to a 2A is more understandable.

^ Me too, noxchild. I really believed he'd place 2nd.

Keegan, I love your skating, your programs, your infectious joy, and look forward to great skates from you again soon!

Rough event for Keegan (really, rough for almost everybody other than Morisi and Kazuki). I think he's likely to wind up as first alternate, based on his standing.

First alternate might be good enough, given Yuzuru's injury...

Hopefully it goes without saying that someone else's injury and withdrawal is not how you want to get into the GPF.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing; it certainly makes the jockeying for the alternate position all the more important.

Looking over the lineup, there are two guys there who could take the first alternate spot away from him and one who could bump Junhwan down to the role of first alternate. The latter is Samarin if he takes silver (or gold, in theory, but let's assume Nathan takes that). The two guys who could be first alternate are Jin Boyang and Dmitri Aliev, who both placed fifth at their event, and need to either take gold or place second with scores or 266.41 (in Aliev's case) or 258.64 (in Jin's case) to win a tiebreaker.

So lots to watch for in the standings next week.

Agree with your analysis. A lot of bullets for Keegan to dodge, so to speak, but possible.

Also looking forward to seeing Nic skate. Wouldn't it be something if he could take the silver. Unlikely, but not entirely implausible.

I'm having severe technical issues with the Ladies LP broadcast, so it doesn't look like I can share it. Sorry.

These SCI videos are over 3 weeks late, but better late than never... I don't have TSN, so unfortunately I can't be as generous with this competition as I am with CBC's coverage. However, I will share what I can (which is primarily the men's event, although it's certainly not everything). The vids in this section are in 720p.

Oooh I'm definitely going to try to go. i planned to last year but the flu got into the way. Fun fact: Johnny Weir is in the safety video playing in the locker area at the Bryant Park rink.
