I'm super excited for Gilles/Poirier to start being on podiums... they are so good and I think they finally have final group PCS recognition after the James Bond program at the Olympics.
Between the retirements of Virtue/Moir, Bobrova/Soloviev, seemingly that of Cappellini/Lanotte, and the Shibutanis taking at least a year off competition (in all honesty, I'm preparing myself for Maia and Alex's season off to turn into a permanent thing), Gilles/Poirier seem poised to move into the final flight already based on subtraction plus the way things shook down at Worlds (where the judges placed them non-trivially ahead of Stepanova/Bukin in the free dance; that's the other team that seems likely to benefit the most from the new ordering of things).

I would give anything to be there to meet and say hello to Patrick. I've been a huge for so many years and I would love to thank him for giving me so many great performances and happy memories.

Quotes & points from them
Key theme; when we were young being active in multiple sports to us both was very important.
As we grew older in our teenage years we had to make many social time sacrifices to train but we always found time to be kids. That’s not easy.
“As athletes sometimes you need a break from your sport to give you some perspective so you can come back even more motivated. It’s all about the journey getting there not the outcome”
On handling the pressure of performance...”It comes down to preparation and knowing what little things calm you and make you comfortable.” “Perfection doesn’t really exist but excellence does”
“I wish we could do this forever but how do you replace what we did?” “We are so fortunate to come from a country that celebrates it’s athletes like we do”
“Learning how to be a gracious competitor during good and bad times is my take away lesson from sport”.
“I believe in Canada and as Canadians we do sport all for the right reasons”
Quote of the day: "the juice will be worth the squeeze...", Scott Moir
