This is an English article with photos and videos from the parade which has been a big success for the city of Sendai, drawing crowds of over 100,000! It took place on the 22nd, from 1pm-2pm, with marching bands, famous Sendai historical character cosplayers, and a truck with Yuzu on the top waving at people. :)
Seriously, just take a look at the photos, it's pretty amazing.:drama:

Some highligts of the parade include:
Yuzuru Hanyu being awarded the Prefecture Citizen of Honor Award for the second time.
Awarded 4 years worth of premium rice --and much more (I think I counted 10 awards total).

Yuzuru Hanyu donated all his Olympic winnings of 10,000,000 yen (roughly 91,998 USD) half to the city and half to the prefecture, to be used for the continued reconstruction of the area from the earthquake in 2011.

https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20180423/p2a/00m/0na/005000c English coverage of the Parade Press conference with Yuzuru Hanyu

The aftermath has also been heartwarming and funny. The next day this hashtag trended --and is still trending on twitter #羽生結弦の写真撮るの下手くそ選手権 It translates to Championships of Badly taken photos of Yuzuru Hanyu. Where fans are sharing their out of focus, partially or totally obscured photos of Yuzu at the parade. https://twitter.com/echotpe/status/988299019825926145 these, for example.

This parade was paid for by donations and the sale of comemorative T-shirts and wristbands that were made in Japan. If there is a surplus of funds, they are expected to be donated to the reconstruction efforts. https://twitter.com/TBC_houdou/status/988372575251136512 at this time 235,000,000 yen has been raised. (roughly 2,161,964USD):eeking:

Parade organizers had enlisted 1000 volunteers to pick up trash after the parade, but were happy to find the roads clear and only 6 bags of trash total to be picked up. https://twitter.com/nhk_tohoku_news/status/988286409936060416

He is our biggest rockstar!! Sometimes it’s hard to grasp just how much love and support he has so it’s nice to see a public outpouring on such a large scale. Totally deserved too!! Go Yuzu!!

This was the best part of the event.

He is happy getting back to his hometown and that is remarkable.

From the gift he received I was really interested in the crane plate and music box with Chopin Ballade in it....

Those poorly taken pictures of Yuzuru are truly hilarious! I can’t get enough of them.

He is truly a legend and so deserving of everything. <3

Am I crazy? I watched it live for two hours while I complain all the time that I don't have enough time for my work

And, I was shocked by that crowd. I really think that this has never happened in the history of this sport. Seriously, ISU should use his popularity for expanding the sport.

I have been in and around Parades my entire life. The Rose Parade here in Ca. and the even bigger Calgary Stampeded Parade. That's the biggest crowd I have ever seen....Wow, all for Hanyu. Amazing.
