This team has great pair elements but obviously she is not a good jumper. She doesn't have any triples but she does have 2A. Lack of triples doesn't prevent them from having a good junior career but obviously she would need triples if she ever wants to compete as a senior. But all that is several seasons ahead and untill then we can enjoy their performances in junior stages.

At the moment Polina & Dima has been assigned to JGP Slovakia but obviously changes are still possible.

Test skate event is ongoing and later today pairs will skate their SP. FS will be skated tomorrow. Hopefully we will soon have some info about who did great and who didn't.

It will be interesting to see if Polina will do a triple jump in a competition this season. Their former coach mentioned already last year that she has been practising triple jumps but so far she has never tried one in a competition. According to rumors she might have tried triple jumps in training sessions at the test skate event but their programs didn't include triple jumps.

They have four more seasons of junior eligibility. While it is necessary to have the triples in seniors, it is not as important to have them in juniors. The jumps are only two elements, and the points they lose on jumps they make up by having a very high levels of other elements. For example, the last season they managed to beat Boikova/Kozlovski in one JPG and in JGPF, and Pavliuschenko/Khodykhin in JGPF. In fact, in JGPF they ended up as the highest scoring Russian pair. While she definitely has to work on triples, it may not be a good idea putting them in unless they are solid because it does affects the PCS when there are falls. Look at Kostoukovich/Ialin, how they dropped places when they had falls. They ended sixth and it cost them competing at JGPF.

M/G are the favourites for sure but P/R could very well get the silver. A/K is also a capable pair and could very well medal as well especially since none of the non-Russian teams have ever skated any JGP events.

Or P/R could get gold... the last year it was B/K who was the favourites and P/R was expected to get bronze the best. Besides, P/R apparently beat M/G at the test skates in FS!

I found a very big potential from them yesterday. Besides the unfortunate fall, they had the best throws, the best twists and the best lifts among the 7 teams. Very good job of these two.

They also had the best 2A, I think.

They do have very beautiful pair elements but sadly she doesn't have any triples.

But she has four more seasons (including this one) in juniors, so it is not that huge disaster that she doesn’t have triples now. They did place as the highest scoring Russian pair at JGPF even without the triples, beating the Russian pairs who have two triples.

What a FS! Simply wonderful. And what lifts: I loved the entries, the positions in the air and the exits. Very original and nicely executed. Certainly a team to watch closely and follow.

New interview of Sliusarenko and Tiukova where they speak about their co-operation with Moskvina's school. It is pretty long interview and there are some stuff about Poluianova / Sopot, Panfilova / Rylov and Melnikova / Selkin.

Objectively speaking, Polina Panfilova and Dmitry Rylov opened on the other side. Before that, they were an average pair, well performing elements, but did not have brightness, brilliance. Now gradually they have their own style. This pair still does not have a triple jump. He's at work. Polina had already gone triple salchow and ristberger. Most likely, in the season we will try to insert into the program a triple. Now, without this, it is difficult to fight and claim high places. But let's see how the situation with the introduction of the new rating system will develop.

They did great at JGP Canada. Because of the fall she wasn't happy obviously but overall they did great.

Based on below link they have scored two of the highest valued throws, the highest valued lift and the 2nd highest valued twist of the season but without triple jumps it will be very difficult for them to win anything.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest_junior_scores_in_figure_skating#Pairs_7

They can obviously medal at the JGP Final since they have great pair elements and they are very stable team but they can also end up 4th even with a score like they had at JGP Canada.

There are one of four very strong teams and Panfilova/Rylov are disadvantaged by not having triples. However, unlike other teams, they have history of being very consistent and their pair elements are of very high standard. There are not triples in the SP, so their disadvantage is mostly in the FS. Akhanteva/Kolesov have not been that consistent in the past (although this season they are much more consistent than the last season). Mishina/Galliamov look solid this season, Kostiukovich/Ialin look more consistent than last season. My guess would be that P/R will be fighting for third place, but if A/K and K/I make mistakes, Panfilova/Rylov could also end up second. (But the same way, if the other three pairs are clean, P/R could also be fourth).
