What are some good ways to raise components scores?

I wouldn’t call myself an expert by any stretch (lifelong fan of skating who just passed Basic 4 as an adult), but in watching videos of lower level competitions - especially Adult competitions - I think learning to truly express and interpret the music through skating is a huge way to set yourself apart from the pack! Whether that’s taking dance or ballet classes outside of skating, or working with a choreographer, or even just watching video of your favorite elite-level skaters and seeing what they do to interpret music, there are a lot of things you can do to learn ways to make your skating more expressive.

Also, don’t neglect basic skating skills. Controlled, deep edges; full extension; pointed toes; smooth crossovers; these are all things judges like to see, and no time you spend drilling and perfecting these skills is wasted time.
