The Shape of Water soundtrack has the perfect setup for any pairs or ice dance couple. The movie highlights the beauty and sincerity of the female character as well as the foreign, godlike strength from the male character.

Composer Alexander Desplat (who won the Oscar for best musical score) combines soft, romantic, casually French music with flutes, strings, and lots of musical space for contemporary movement. Below is just the main theme but there's a lot to choose from in the movie for a classic three-act structure:

Call me mainstream but I would love to see someone skate to “call out my name” by The Weeknd, and an exhibition to “Vienna” by Billy Joel . I have many songs on my mind but these 2 are my top (now) . I have imagined my self quite often skating to these songs 😂😂 since I can’t someone else should !!!

Last Train to Lhasa by Banco de Gaia - one of my fav pieces of music throughout the years, it has both the exotic touch and modern edge, with a pulsating, hypnotic beat. To my knowledge it has never been used in figure skating. A charismatic skater would do a wonderful job with this, quite unique, the closest comparison would be IMO Shoma Uno's Legends SP.

Not a particular song, but I wish more skaters went for South American music other than tangos. I have several CDs with Andean Indian songs, and they're wonderfully calming and even have glide and changes of rhythm. I think it would be especially good for headcase skaters to choose such music. In the last few seasons I've only seen young Kazuki Hasegawa skate to it in part of his FS.

I would love it when some skater(s) would do a programme to some songs of original The Wicker Man (but probably not at JGP's...hihi..some of the audience/forum members would get a fit if 14-year-olds performed to these) because those songs are just so beautiful, despite some of them being really bawdy. Perhaps without lyrics.
