So so happy for Sam. A word 'redemption' (on HB) come to mind here. He did not totally went Belyavsky all the way.

Sam was on a losing side on HB for his bronze AA. But got redemption on HB in EF.

Dalaloyan "helped" a bit his team to loose that team gold with his fall on PB, but was on a winning side of a tie for AA gold. Redemption? Yes. And he won PB bronze (losing only to well-recognized PB specialists). Redemption on PB? Yep. And got his FX gold and silver on VT very deservedly too.

XRT was on a losing tie of AA, but he was on a winning side of a tight battle for team gold 2 days earlier against team Russia. Karma got him? :) Despite losing AA tie to Artur, just 4 days later he was on a winning side of a tie on PH against Max Whitlock. Redemption!

This Worlds was very excitingly dramatic for MAG! Glad we had so many close nailbiters!

Two silver medals for Canadian ladies; given the long, inglorious history of Canadian gymnastics, this is a big moment.

Nina Derwael is the name you're looking for. She's been building up for a routine like that for a few years now. Today she'll also be in beam finals. Her tendency to have flexed feet drives me bonkers occasionally, but she's awesome nonetheless.

Her complexity reminds me a lot of Beth Tweddle! She was amazing on bars.

Wolf Turns. Yay or nay?

only when they're done well, which is basically only by Simone. She makes them at least bareable, most everyone else struggles with them and they are PAINFUL to watch.

I don't understand why team Japan always keep Tanaka? Is there no one who is better at PB and HB? He is not even medal contender in the EF.

Yeah, it's really weird. And can Ragan call herself a World Champion now? She has the medal to prove it, but she doesn't appear in the official FIG records.

really? that's even stranger. it's almost like getting a participation trophy... :slink:

can anyone explain the changes in the scoring system since rio? i'm not a fan of the lower scores, last year when i first saw them i thought everyone was just doing really badly or the talent bank really shrunk after the olympics lol

I was randomly watching some Olympic videos this one day...and happened across this one floor routine from some American gymnast. Sorry I couldn't remember her name. Anyway, the program wasn't that great, it was kinda boring, but in the middle she did like these two little leaps...and I remember thinking, hmmm that's weird. Almost looks like she popped a couple of Axel jumps there, except this isn't skating. So anyway, some really long Russian chick with beautiful lines came after her and I think she won the Olympics, but that's beside the point here. It got me thinking, what if a gymnast did a triple Axel on the floor? Wouldn't that be cool? I have no idea how gymnastics really works btw, just randomly thinking lol.

i know what you're talking about, i've thought the same thing! instead of doing a tumbling pass they can opt for a triple axel
