IMO he suffered a bit from skating much earlier than most of the other big guns, especially the PCS. His fluidity, lightness, innate elegance and style has no match in the Junior field, perhaps with the exception of Camden Pulkinen. He did also have a slight hiccup on his 3A, I really hope he will go clean with his FS and gets on the podium.
Petya said in his post-SP interview that learning 4Lz may be messing up his triple which is unfortunate. Especially considering he has two 3Lz combos in the second half of the FS. He also said that in the best-case scenario they are planning to debut the 4Lz in the FS, but I hope they'll leave it to a less risky time and place.https://youtu.be/or15kDPxQy8 JGP Chelyabinsk SP. In 2nd with 74.15. Agh, unlike him to muck up his lutz combo *
I agree about the program, it's not horrible in and of itself but he could do better. He has an individuality which is not well served by this season's programs. Considering the large growth spurt, I am not surprised it is taking him longer to get his ducks in a row this season. Hopefully once he gets used to his new body things will be back to his usual standard.I don't think it's a bad program, just not a good vehicle for him? Good that he attempted another quad, though it seems like his preparation is a bit late than last year.
Petya's post-FS interview. He is planning to go Senior next season. As long as he gets a good enough SB/a JWorlds medal, why not, I suppose? He has only one more Junior eligible season after this anyway. I am curious what Challengers they are planning to attend. He is also planning a three-quad LP at some point, but I doubt it will be tomorrow.
