Please keep your posts positive and do not speculate.

Fan fests are not the place to discuss these sorts of issues as they are places where you can celebrate your favourite skater.

Anastasiia has been skating well this season and has attained all three podium positions in recent events. She just missed a medal in the latest competition.

:agree:

Wishing her well in the coming JunNats, 31/1 to 4/2.

Apparently she's skating for Ukraine now...

Nyet!

Why? She's only 13 why change nationalities? And is this going to be a situation where she still lives and trains in Russia but represents another country? That's what lilibet does. It may be a trend now. But at what point does the Russian Federation say no more if you want to represent another country you need to live and train there?

Good luck to Anastasia. But I'm wondering if this has to do with her comments from last year about the doping. Hmmm.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she fell out of grace with FFKM/FFKKR and perhaps even her club over that unfortunate incident.

Usually there is more to it, i.e. character that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the group or attitude towards the training regime?

Girls that age aren’t the most sensible oftentime and social media is a bad influence on some?

Or her parents have higher ambitions with their daughter and think these can best be realized abroad?

Best of luck to Anastasiya. Let’s hope it works out for the better and she will able to express herself to full satisfaction of all parties involved.

After reading that article: poor Nastya, she will forever be remembered for causing that 'scandal' by the sports gossip and scandal press.
That same press will not stop holding the incident against her if by fortune she competes very well for Ukraine and starts to best Russian skaters.

Practically, how does this arrangement work? Who is going to pay her fees/dues? Will Snow Leopards still train her, or even allow her and her trainer in the rink?
I think she'll live the life of an intern at some major UKR club and will only see her parents on school holidays, which makes me feel sorry for the kid. She is still only 13, right?

Oh my.. it may be related to "that incident", it may not.. but there are always other incidents and I doubt anyone will remember it or use it against her in a year or two.. at least I hope so.. and if she loves skating and is willing to sacrifice a lot for it, this was probably the best option.. it's exciting that we are almost guaranteed to see her for a long time now.. :agree:

Well that unpleasant comment about "doping" definetely didnt helped her. I remember that vlog, she looked supertired and after some bad competition. Its kind of hyenism to perpetually picking it in media whenever her name show up. Anyway, at least we will see her on international competitions.

Anastasiia is absolutely adorable. But that won't get you far and Russian figure skating because most of them are absolutely adorable and beautiful and super talented. Her silly and unnecessary doping comment may have heard her short-term with the Federation but she also may have fallen behind too many juniors at this point in her career to overcome that and that may be why she switched Ukraine. Anastasia has had a lot to deal with in the last few months and now changing citizenships is a very big move and I don't know how she will handle it. At some point the Russian Federation will frown on girls living and training in Russia yet representing other countries in competitions. At this point it's not a big deal but we all know Lilbet can beat anyone at any time including all of the Russian girls. Will that sit well with the Russian Federation this season? And if Anastasia starts to beat Russian girls in juniors representing Ukraine how will the Federation handle that?

Honestly, I dont think Anastasia will ever have performance to seriously "beat" those russian girls which are send on international competitions. Also I think in Russia, they can have dual citizenship with countries from ex-soviet republics (CIS coutries), so its not like she switching citizenship, just gain another one (if she already havent UA citizenship, due to some family relations).
Well sport is business as any other and as long as Ukraine FS authorities will pay her training to Snow leopards, I dont see reason why it should be a problem. Also she is out of FFKKR and Snow leopards as a school are mainly monetized from some Moscow hockey association (its above everything hockey school), so there is not much possibilities how FFKKR, in that unprobable scenario that she would be able to consistently win over other russian girls and FFKKR would want to limited her, could take some measures.
