Congrats to Aurora, two wonderful programs

Switch to Ravi seem a really good choice for her future, and for Canada itself, considering the ongoing generational change

Skate Canada has just announced their teams for the ISU events and Aurora is neither on the Junior Worlds (is she already too old?) nor Four Continents lists. The Worlds team will be decided after the Four Continents. I wonder why the silver medalist has not been given a chance to go for the 4 Continents. If she's omitted now, will there be a chance they will include her in the team for the Worlds?

Aurora is only 16, so she could go to Junior Worlds. Not sure what's up with that. But as far as Four Continents goes, Aurora has never competed on the senior level internationally, so she doesn't have the technical minimums to qualify for the event.

Her scores at Canadian Nationals are good, so she should be fine at this competition. I hope she goes to Worlds.

I am reading in the competition threads that Aurora has suffered from bone marrow edema. I have not heard this before since I am a US fan. Can someone fill me in?

Me too. She has a lot of potential, and could be one of the future stars of Canada, although she still needs some work, and worlds would be a good experience for her to have

Plus she is young and worlds will set her up nicely for next season. 19 at the Olympics.

She had a pelvic fracture, which caused the edema (swelling due to buildup of fluid) to develop. She said at Nationals that she was in physio for it, and it's what's been hindering her from doing things like the 3T-3T and the Lutz.

This is new information publicly as far as I know. Before Nationals, I'd guessed she had some sort of injury based on her lowering her difficulty in the program and WDing from her CS event, but had no details. The commentators at Nationals shared that she was diagnosed with a pelvic fracture in September, as well as the fact that she had been dealing with bone marrow edema. That can be caused by response to an injury, so I'd guess that the two issues are related. But I don't know.

Yay! If I followed everything correctly, it looks like Aurora successfully achieved the tech levels that she needed in order to be eligible for Worlds.

At the Bavarian Open this weekend she was awarded a 29.17 (she needed 27) on her short and a 53.63 on her free (she needed a 47.)

So there’s a great chance that Canada will have a new face in Japan next month. [emoji16]

Oops, looks like my numbers were off and the TES minimums were 29 and 49.

Either way, Aurora still achieved her goal. By the skin of her teeth.

How to pronounce her name: Sotor? Since it seems an Eastern European name to me, poorly transcribed into English (perhaps at the moment of immigration of her ancestors?)
