Was there ever skater in colored/black tights?

Black tights and skirts have been very popular in synchro prized skating for the last decade.

They are especially helpful for teams that have male skaters on their rosters, in terms of blending in and not having them stand out as they would by wearing coloured pants against the womens’ beige tights.

Also Zahra Lari wears a lot of coloured or black tights/pants.

Also, I thought female skaters could not wear pants but just catsuits (apart from hip hop SD), I learned that I was wrong. I hope to see more of them in competitions as I don't particularly love unitards but I really liked some hip hop costumes that included pants from two seasons ago.

Laurine Lecavelier wore parti-coloured tights (one leg skin-toned and one leg grey) in her ill-fated first short program last season, I've just remembered.

And yes, Zahra Lari wears heavy dark tights as part of all her costumes. One thing ladies aren't allowed to wear is leggings - it has to be tights, unitards or pants - but if leggings were allowed I think she'd go for those.

Girls can in everything except ice dance (and even in ice dance when the rules are tweaked to permit it, eg the hip-hop year), but seem to default to catsuits instead. Men can, and some use cover-stick or foundation to even out their skin tone and make their facial features read clearly from a distance even if they don't go for the full dramatics, though I don't know how that works with the current fashion for beards.

men who wear make up usually fill the beard with pencils (like women do with the brows), but i think it's subjective you may not need it with a very dark beard and it also depends on your complexion and shade of the foundation

Yes, many ladies are wearing pants or catsuits and men do wear makeup even if it is just foundation.

i meant something more showy than just foundation like shoma in his EX at nhk

Alina's halfway tights thread made me think of this... why does everybody go for flesh colored? In everyday fashion colored tights have been a thing for a while and skaters are young girls/women...

was there somebody who wore different colored tights?

I was wondering the same quite some time ago, sadly i think it's because many skaters don't really care that much. Speaking of which, this reminds of when i used to do some research myself. It has also occurred to me that most of the skaters who choose to wear different colored tights in the pictures and videos are often not well-known.

I just read that Starr Andrews has to wear pants because there aren’t tights in her skin tone.

I seem to remember that Surya Bonaly had that issue. Didn't she wear ordinary pantyhose sometimes instead because of it? Thankfully, times have moved on since then though! Starr definitely wears tights, including with that gorgeous champagne-coloured frock she has for her SP this season.

I recall Mae Berenice Meite saying she has her tights custom-dyed to match her skin tone, which is probably what they have to do with illusion fabric as well, unfortunately..

that's strange, many people with her skin tone (or darker) live in usa, why would'nt they make tights in that shade?

The clothing industry doesn't care. Even for non-skating tights, there aren't many options available in the big stores. I am very pale and the 'nude'/'skin' colored tights in shops aren't the right color for me, either, but they really neglect darker skin tones. The same thing goes for a lot of makeup brands. They'll have 30 shades of beige (light beige, sand beige, nude beige, tan beige, natural beige, buff beige, ETC) but dark skin tones are lucky to get a handful of options, and a lot of the undertones are totally off so they aren't even good colors. This has been getting addressed more in the past few years, but a lot of brands still can't get the whole diversity thing right :palmf:
