One of my favorite Canadian pair teams of all time is Barb and Paul. Their chemistry was so genuine and both were powerful skaters and their beauty and grace just flowed across the ice. Here are a couple of my favorite programs

This was a very special program for Barb because her young daughter drowned in their swimming pool. You can see the pain in Barb's eyes. I always remember this program.

Thanks for the memories. He had such powerful and fully committed physicality, leaving her free to carry the emotional content. The flower and the stem.

They were a great pairs team. Very emotional on what happened to them at the 1984 Olymoics. Athletic and artistic

I remember that so vividly. I thought it was so courageous to share her story with the public. One of those blink of an eye moments that leave pain for the rest of your life. Great pairs skaters.

Yes, I recall that moment, she had a boot problem. Ruined their skate, but they bravely carried the moment

They were the first pair that I really got "in to!" They had soooo much chemistry on the ice and their musicality was beyond any pair I had seen previously. They always seemed to choose the right music and you just knew Paul would always protect her. People always talk about the Protopopovs but to me Underhill and Martini set the bar. It was so hard to believe they weren't a couple and really didn't socialize off the ice. I remember Barb saying they didn't see each other except for the occasional meeting until the season started up. Unchained Melody still gives me chills.

OMG - watching that Worlds performance brought tears to my eyes (maybe it's too early in the morning and I'm not awake yet?) The unity the two of them had surpasses pretty much everybody today. Pairs teams are all about complicated tricks and triples this and triple that and the basic pairs skills just aren't there like Barb and Paul. Every move was as one. Thank you for posting the videos....
