Head tells me without Canadian or American judges on the panel it may be very tough to shake up the status quo of established SB protocol. But that is only if every team in contention skates clean (fat chance of that though - LOL!) My gut says a team from top group will likely throw cat amongst pigeon's yet again; so Who do I think is most likely to tank under pressure is part 1 of the puzzle. Part 2 is who has the buzz, momentum, the programs + experience to actually get the job done? Part 3 will be who (if anyone) on judges panel will vote with who to obtain desired results? Part 4 will be judge's dealing and reacting to the actual calls of tech panel + their own impression of what just happened on the ice in terms of performance and then how the use GOE, Next is the biggest question on North American minds; will this panel push Russia up the rankings, this season or not, if they miraculously skate clean? The pool of dance judges are Aus, Bul, Chn, Fra, Hun, Ger, Hun, Isr, Jpn, Pol, Kor, Rus,Tur, and Ukr. considering that P/C has a 10pt buffer of protection that is the only safe bet in terms of predictions. The rest is an educated guess, wrapped up in fate and who is most prepared mentally and physically to make things happen in spite of all the odds. So much more stressful to be a dance fan these days, but a hec of a lot more fun when you can dream that your fav team may actually have a shot at the podium, and it's not completely predetermined anymore, well spots 2 -24 are mostly up for grabs and that is a step in right direction -- Yippee! So I have decided to throw caution to the wind and predict based on my heart and gut that says experience will trump momentum and the new kids may be forced to wait their turn at bat, despite brilliance of talent, cuz it takes time to learn how to control nerves + the edge usually goes to national champs(or in a bumpy or lackluster season where edge has been lost to those who have already been on world podium before) so hang on to your hats kids, the odds say it will be a very bumpy ride!
1.Gabriella PAPADAKIS / Guillaume CIZERON (10pt buff=confidence+ OLY/W/E Medals)
2: Madison CHOCK / Evan BATES (FD + 4C gold, W medals)
3. Kaitlyn WEAVER / Andrew POJE (RD + Can1 4C silver+ W Medals)
4. Alexandra STEPANOVA / Ivan BUKIN (Panel Politiks + Rus1, + Euro silver, though I prefer S/K if clean, in terms of the Russian teams - I understand 2nd or 3rd is more likely, but hoping Judges will still favor far more refined and decorated NA teams over S/B.)
5. Piper GILLES / Paul POIRIER (Great RD, BEST FD + Buzz +4CC Bronze + feedback refinements and historical peaking for worlds, trumps my head that understands 6-7 is more likely based on panel and PCS being Can#2. However, being #1 of my heart this yr., while recent evidence shows miracles happen thus, if clean + 2 emotional performances, trump reality so I'd be tempted to put G/P on podium, or 4th if I were judging & others faltered...)
6. Madison HUBBELL / Zachary DONOHUE (I never drank the koolaid, but IMO they are still better than both Russian teams when they go clean, S/K will likely not be clean and are R#2, but even so the E Bronze - G/F, will still likely lose out to higher ranked USA#1 - no Italian judge either, so SB protocol PCS likely goes to USA...
That's my story and I am sticking to it (maybe) - Go big or go home, LOL packing as I type...
